Rolston officially on re-entry waivers [cleared]

RT @Russostrib: RT @TGfireandice: Brian Rolston will be assigned to Albany and will be placed on re-entry waivers.

RT @TSNBobMcKenzie: NJD assigns Brian Rolston to Albany. Plan is for re-entry waivers later this week. Obviously hoping he will be claimed to free up cap space.

Edit 12/29 11:38am: RT @kuklaskorner: RT @NHLDevils: Brian Rolston has been placed on re-entry waivers. #njdevils

Will be interesting to see if he is claimed. I guess at $2.5M/year he isn't a horrible deal and if you have a PP that lacks a shot he might be a decent option.

The Oilers could use his shot on the powerplay, and his leadership. But not his cap hit (even at 2.5).

Any contenders with 5 mill in cap space available? Look for them to pick him up, it gives them cash to get him and make a deadline move if necessary.

You would imagine Lou has already worked something out with some team...but who the hell knows what they are doing these days.

He was waived by the worst team in the NHL.

He has just 2 goals in 21gp. -12 in that span.

He's 37yrs old, but still has another year left on his deal.

Yeah, i'm going with he probably won't be picked up at $2.5mil.

Atlanta was likely highest bidder for Rolston when he was on the market last time - just like when they outbid for Campbell but he wanted to go to Chicago. Rolston's agent said "they made a very aggressive offer".

It's not like he is UFA next year. So thats 5M for two years. Big risk considering his is over 35 years old.

I would hope not if I were you. He seems like a Burke type player. At least, his numbers fit in with a lot of his other pick ups in the last few years.

Clarke MacArthur. Not big. Not tough. But cheap. And young. And leads TO in scoring.

Meanwhile, Rolston is trailing Komisarek in scoring.

There is no place for Rolston in TO's lineup. Or anybody else's. He's all but done as everyone knew that was a mistake contract.

Heh... what if he clears coming up... then gets sent down again... then brought up again... does that mean his cap hit is 25%?

Lol while I doubt the Leafs claim him, what you said does nothing to refute the idea that they will.

Just don't see it. If it was just one year at $2.5 that would make sense for some contender who needs a PP shot but that second year makes it brutal.

Look at TO's roster.

No old farts.

Oldest guy is Giguere, a 33yr old goaltender.
