The Captain has arrived!

For years many posters have talked and argued about the talents of Dustin Brown. Love him or not it can never be argued that he isn't one of the best hitters in the NHL and wears his heart on his sleeve. Being a quiet guy by nature he is often leading by example. He in many ways reminds me of a young Dave Taylor.

Before the start of the season LA fans were looking for a sniper to complete the first line and bring that missing element required to win the big games. While I am not saying Brown fills that role, he has done a great job of lessening that burden.
Going into the game on Monday vs SJ Brown was tied for 2nd with the most points in the NHL in the month of December.

Looking into his numbers further really shows his importance to this team.
Against the best 8 teams in the NHL that LA has played Brown has 10G (8ES/2PP) and 8A (5ES/3PP) for a total of 18 PTS in 13 games. He is also a +14 in these 13games. Those are great numbers and shows he doesn't just pad the stats vs the bottom dwellers. In fact vs the bottom 8 teams LA has played Brown has 3G-4A-7PT
in 9 games played.

Also unlike many of the NHL's top point producers Brown has 13G-11A-24PTS at even strength. Thats 73% of his scoring. He is tied for 13th in the NHL in even strength points ( Kopitar tied for 4th)

While he may not keep up his current pace that has him finishing at 37G-39A-76PTS
the fact that he looks good to crack the 30 goal mark for the 2nd time in his career and finish with a career high in points is worthy of recognition. Add in the fact he's doing this scoring 5 on 5 or 4 on 4 against the elite teams in the NHL is a bonus and a real sign that OUR captain has arrived!

We might be witnessing his career season. He's a force out there right now.

Last night after Dustin Brown scored on the alley-oop, my wife punched me in the shoulder and said, "There, see that? Stop calling him hands of stone."

NORTH Dustin. Keep it going North as often as you can and you will be just fine.

I'd give credit to Brown for picking his game up, and to Murray for sticking to his guns about keeping him on the same line with Kopitar. Took awhile for the chemistry to develop, but now our two best offensive players are in sync and carrying this team.

Some would say that the captain never left...

Teams will have to respect Sturm's speed (especially if he puts up points), which will open up even more ice for Brown and Kopitar.

The first line can be scary dangerous. If the defense can start chipping in some timely goals, the Kings will be an extremely dangerous team in the playoffs.

Depth is key in the current NHL; Dean is building a championship caliber team. Dean's legacy will pass or fail on the number of cups won, not regular season success.

Of course, the Kings could go 1-8 again and everyone will be ready to jump off a bridge.

Of course I'm kidding. Just lucky people on this forum is not a GM or Head Coach because 99% would be looking for a new career. Me being the exception.
