I hope Malone gets his spot as I have him on my fantasy team and he's been gold for the last few weeks

any update on Downie

Hey guys...just wondering if there is any any update on his status. I have him in a hockey pool, debating to trade him. Any time line etc. would be appreciated.

Thanks...

From ESPN:
Quote:
Downie, who spent the past 10 days with a cast on his right ankle, has just begun to use a walking boot while recovering from a high ankle sprain suffered Dec. 2 in Boston, The Tampa Tribune reports.

While Vinny Lecavalier seemed to return slightly sooner than expected, Downie is still a ways off and he's still not sure when he'll begin skating again. "I have no idea, they are kind of not really giving me much hope right now, they are keeping it pretty restricted,'' Downie said of when he might get on skates. "Hopefully it's sooner rather than later.''

Dec. 17

Injured RW Steve Downie skated today, third time he's been on the ice since Dec 2 ankle injury, still in walking boot, close but not ready

And coach Guy Boucher said Downie could start practicing hard – and maybe playing in a game – in a week or so.

“I’m starting to get hope now,” Downie said. “It’s getting more exciting now as it’s feeling better and better.”

Downie said he still wears a walking boot, but it’s mostly precautionary, as he’s not dealing with as much pain. “You have bad days, you have good days,” he said.

uhhh, were playing good right now so we dont need him. If he rushes back could injure it worst and would rather make sure he is 100 percent before he comes back. Were leading our division and a ways away before were in trouble of getting out of a playoff spot. I would rather make sure he perfectly healthy so he could help us fight for a playoff spot than rush back and get hurt again. Take his time, thats what is going to help the team the most right now...

RW Steve Downie (high ankle sprain) skated with the team Thursday for the first time since sustaining the injury Dec. 2. Boucher said there's a "high probability" he could be ready to play in a game on next week's road trip to Washington and Pittsburgh.

So Guy doesn't want to rush Downie back onto the top line which is understandable. When he gets there though, that should make our lines look like this...

St. Louis-Stamkos-Downie
Gagne-Lecavalier-Bergenheim
Malone-Moore-Purcell
Tyrell-Thompson-Hall

I like that quite a bit.

Steve Downie wants to play tomorrow. Will not though, Boucher wants him to get more practice time. Looks like a Tuesday return.

Will he eventually make his way back up to playing with Stamkos? If hes not I'l have to drop him in fantasy and Il be heartbroken since hes my favourite player in the league that isn't a Dallas Star.

just a matter of time. boucher likes to mix things up regardless during a game, but that line is too proven to not come back together. i think it's just a decision to limit his minutes until he plays his way back into form

Too bad about Downie. Will be interesting to see how this team plays now. Downie was really about the only spark the Lightning had.
...we have a bigger salary sink in Vinnie than we do Malone.
