another low risk move similar to Kostitsyn, and it also steals the signing away from the division rival Blues.
I know a bunch of us had been saying for years that Svatos should be on the Preds radar. I don't know if he has anything left in the NHL, he could play one shift and be done, or he could stay healthy and only chip in 8 goals. who knows.
huge help if he can pot 15-20, no loss if he doesn't pan out and gets demoted.
Nah, we are in a playoff spot despite 3 of our top 5 forwards being out. How's the view in the rear view mirror?
Actually, pretty nice considering we are missing 4 of our top 6. Not to mention our little Spark Bug in Jordin Tootoo. Only three points back with four games in hand against the Ducks and two against Chicago, I think we can handle it.
I said it last night, although it is a bit dirty, Svatos was in play and Poile had to make a move to inject some goal scoring skill into the lineup with a simple waiver claim.
As has been discussed repeatedly, we don't have the pieces right now to finish all the chances that have been created. Svatos is a guy that is known for working hard and finishing the chances he gets. He will not be a savior, but he is a desperately needed injection of "proven" offensive talent into the lineup when we're most needing it.
Poile said today on NHL Live right after the waiver claim that the coaching staff and management met last night and discussed the issue of 5 goals in 5 games and whether or not to make a claim on Svatos. They slept on it and made the decision about 30 minutes prior to the 12 noon EST deadline and did in fact get him.
There's not much available right now, but if Svatos can give the Preds the same boost as Jan Hlavac did a few years ago, I'll take it!

Let's see where we are in 82 games shall we?
Our guys have been out for over a month. Nice try. Blues played without 6 of their top 9 players when they were missing Pietrangelo, E. Johnson and Roman Polak.

right and we haven't had Lombardi since day 2 of our season. Erat has only played 27 games, Legwand 18, Suter 25, Goc 30, Kos 33, Sullivan maybe out for a very long time. Not to mention the often injured Pekka Rinne.
My point, we lose for games in a row thanks to not having Erat, Sullivan, Legwand. Just before that we had a five game win streak and almost top of the division.
Bottom line: A lot of hockey to be played and when we are healthy, we win games. The past four games we have not been healthy thus not winning games. You have a very short memory.
I like this just as much as everyone else. Just like Sergei, if he doesn't produce we are not out anything.
Plus it is so great to mess with the Blues.
Congrats Svatos is a good addition for you guys, but If I remember correctly Doug Armstrong (Our GM for the Blues) is a guy to hold grudges and with Weber and O'Reilly RFAs this summer I see slightly overpriced offer sheets coming their way.

We will match Weber if we don't resign him prior, and we'll take your picks for the two month wonder.

Oh I am not saying that you won't match Weber, but we will make u pay more than you want to. Back in 2007?? Vancouver signed Backes to an offer sheet and the Blues immediately matched and sent and ever larger offer sheet to Kesler just to send a message. I'm just saying expect some kind of retaliation.
My guess is that STL will sign Weber only to make Nashville pay more for him than they normally would. Svatos is no big deal but St. Louis won't let it slide with no response. Their history proves that.
