MZA is here to stay.

Good luck, great White spark. I hope he's a good veteran presence for the kids- all we could really ask of him.

Just remember he's not Brashear and we should like him a lot more than it appears some do.

This is good news. Not for White, though at least he will get to play more. It had to be done.

This move was going to happen when Todd White did not skate at the Rangers optional practice this morning. He is usually skates at every optional. The Rangers did not have a stall for him in the Rangers room either this morning. The scratches skate during the warm ups too. So the writing was on the wall this morning.

$1,072,581 cap hit for White. Brashear was $1.4M or $1.3M if he was assigned to the AHL. Rangers didn't save much money.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't Brashear's cap hit stay on the books because of his over-35 contract? Where all but the portion of White's hit already spent for the year will come off?

about time.

Good to see the Rangers acknowledge the benefit of Zucko in the line-up over White.

Yes, but what Rangerboy is saying (correct me if I am wrong) is that the cap hit already realized (just over a million) is not much different than what Brashear would have caused us should we not have made that trade.

White's cap hit to date was just over a million

Brashear's total cap hit was 1.4

The difference is marginal

I suppose I would agree with that, except that in my view White's play when he was asked to be in the lineup was more than marginally better than Brashear's.

Sure, the savings isn't that much, but for the money the Rangers had a player who could step in when needed. Was his cap hit way too high for a 13th forward? Absolutely, but he can still play (a little), unlike Brashear.

He is light years better but still learning and don't be upset when Calley and Prospal come back that he is sent back down,

I doubt Prospal plays a game this year.

Yeah the Rangers also brought him in to see if he could help the team out, and to be a useful option if they needed a player otherwise.

In retrospect, probably would have made more sense to keep Kennedy up and send White down, but overall it doesn't really matter

Yeah I'm also not too sure that Prospal is realistically going to be coming back in a useful way, but we'll see. Might also see Christensen benched in favor of keeping MZA in the lineup if he plays well in the meantime

he was a body that gave us some minutes while MZA and our other kids got plenty of playing time in the AHL. Brashear wasnt playing here.

Yep. That is my point.

White should have been assigned to AHL in October.

Tim Kennedy at $550,000 was the better option. Cheaper, faster and younger. White was the antithesis of everything the current Rangers are about.

better late than never I guess. White can't say they did'nt give him a shot. He played some games and got waived 4 freaking times so anyone in the league could of had him.

He makes too much bottom line. Good luck to him next yr. If he accepts a two way cheap deal he may be able to get a job in the NHL. Otherwise he is AHL bound rest of the way

So Kennedy,White, Justin Williams, Newbury, Jeremy Williams..............Whale have some experience upfront. Only real kids that stick out are Grachev and Weise in my head. Upfront that is

Teams made some strange/stupid decisions about cap space and player personnel. Rangers aren't unusual in this aspect
