Tallon's quote earlier in the month caught my attention, just checking for an update.

http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sports...comment-page-1

Quote:
Tallon says Gudbranson’s agent was greedy

"It takes two to tango,’’ Tallon said. “His agent [Mark Guy] was a little greedy and we couldn’t come to terms. … Two things can happen, the kid can help turn your franchise around or you can destroy his career. Very few 18 year olds play regularly in the NHL. We have to protect our assets.’’

Gudbranson has not been good at all since he was sent back to the OHL. He also had a brutally bad selection camp and if he weren't the 3rd overall pick, I seriously doubt we'd see him in Buffalo right now.

It seems like TSN is trying to talk it up differently so Kassian doesn't receive any supplementary discipline.

By IIHF rules for this tournament, the right call was made and Kassian should sit out at least one more game. It sucks for Canada, but it would be the right action.
Yep.

So very true.

Alot of time the refs don't even see the play and still give 5+20min only because the player who got hit didn't get up within the next 15 seconds. People complaining about the NHL refs (I know.. often times they suck too) should watch more of european hockey.

This Sweden-Russia game is nasty. I've seen more scrums in the first period than any typical Flyers-Pens game.

Surprised to hear that about Russia...

Oh and i looked at the tsn, boxscore and no Bertilsson anywhere. So either he hurt his shoulder again or he's a healthy scratch, not good news either way

He's playing - he had a really nice shot block on the PK in the first period.

And Lehner has been unbelievable for the Swedes.

I was at the game. Was absolutely pathetic effort by the Russian's. They just seemed lost the entire game with the exception of the last 5 minutes. I'm officially done with this team. They don't play well individually, let alone as a team.

He was playing, just wasn't noticeable. Wanted to see how he would do but he didn't do much.

Lehner was a ****ing monster. This kid is going to be absolutely insane when he breaks into the NHL. I have never seen a prospect goalie play like that. So positionally sound, quick on reflexes and lateral movement. Took up a lot of the net.

Another kid to look out for is Max Friberg. This kid is what I deem a "tenacious little *******." Hes 5'10" but plays like he is 6'3". Great center of gravity, doesn't get pushed around. Plays hard every shift and would be a great role player on any team. If you watch him, there is no way you can't not like his game. I picture him as a 3rd/4th liner, but a damn solid one.

Anybody know why that Emerson kid for team USA is getting booed everytime he touches the puck? I know he plays in Canada, so does it have something to do with his Junior team?

Hey said Buffalo is a "ghost-town" and that compared to Medicine Hat, where he plays, he considers Medicine Hat a paradise.

But as usual, it was taken out of context.

Last chance for the Russians to make it into medal contention. After watching the Czechs play Sweden, they have what it takes to stun Russia for the second straight year.

Canada vs. Sweden should be a very good game. GO SWEDEN!

USA vs. Switzerland shouldn't be much of a game at all with the edge obviously going to the US.

I posted this in the WJC and Prospects part of the forum but I figured there are enough WJC fans here so you guys might enjoy the read.

http://www.fromrussiawithglove.com/?p=1468

A little article I did up of Team Russia's woes as well as some scouting reports on some of their top players.

Hope you like it and I would appreciate any feedback you had to give me.

Man was Canada ever disinterested today. I was at the game, and the crowd was loud all game, dispute being out played by the Swedes. Dave Cameron hockey sucks, the trap is brutal, and this team cannot play it. Hopefully they turn it around because a Quarterfinal exit wouldn't surprise me.

I think it is Canada-Switzerland and Finland-Russia on Sunday. USA and Sweden get byes for winning their pools. If that is wrong, someone will correct me.

Agreed. Switzerland is really fired up and Cameron is a moron for leaving Roy in yesterday. He's been terrible the entire tourney and should have been yanked 2-3 goals in. Sweden looks to be the strongest team in the tourney although their goalie was also horrible yesterday but at least he gutted it out in the third.

Nobody expected to see Canada do much in this tourney but now we'll see what they're made of. At least Kassian will be back for the Switzerland game.
