Not very good. Had one sequence where he dangled his way down from the blue line through a few people but didn't get a good shot off. Made a risky drop pass to Alfie who wasn't really open, and had a giveaway in our zone. He was good defensively, but got knocked down more than usual. If he hadn't been so great the past few weeks, we'd probably be calling it an awesome game on his part. I dread the day we begin to say things like "Karlsson HAS to be better" or "Wow, Karlsson has no points in the last three games". It's unreasonable to expect him to carry us offensively, and yet he's been doing just that.
To put things in perspective, Gonchar had a better game than he's had in a long time, and Karlsson had a sub-par performance. They were pretty much equally good.
The 4th line was the best line on the ice last night & Zack, a Bingo callup played very well. The defence was again brutal & Elliott had another poor outing. These guys just can't seem to get their **** together in any consistent way this yr so far.
The good news is that the deadline is two months away & Murray will likely be unloading a few contracts for picks & prospects.
Locke is not what some are making him out to be, and the best line on the ice just happened to be the one Smith was on.
The Sens' top 4 wingers are crap, all of them ATM. I don't care who centers them, until they start playing the results will be the same.
Agreed, the wingers do nothing to help anyone. You bring up Locke, what is he going to do that Spezza couldn't? I dont mind bring up Locke at all, but I honestly wouldnt even expect him to do anything. Maybe if you brought up Locke and Butler together and have them play, maybe you could get something then?
How ridiculously disappointing is Michalek this entire year? To me, him sucking is a huge X-factor.
