OK, so he's been waived. He hasn't lived up to his expectations yet, but I feel he could be worth a shot. He's cheap and if he turns it around, he could be very solid for the Hawks. Honestly, he can't be worse than Boynton. Even though he might get claimed by someone else anyways like Edmonton who's without Whitney, I would want him here just to give him a shot. It would be low risk, high reward.

Thoughts?

It would be low risk but he's been traded and waived so much recently that I have to believe he's damaged goods.

In his defense, last year in Philly, if he made one mistake, he would be scratched or benched for awhile. He was -1 with about 45 seconds of ice time in one of the Cup games. He was traded to Nashville in the Hamhuis rights trade and did alright in camp. I guess Nashville liked what they saw in him more. He then was in Vancouver where he played a little. I doubt too much. Give him a shot, see what happens.

There's a reason he only had 45 seconds of ice time: he sucked.

He is not cheap-

His cap hit is $925,000 and he gets paid $850,000 in the NHL and or the AHL.
In addition he is on the hook for a $ 1 million dollar deal next year.....NHL or AHL.

Too much $ for the Hawks plus he isn't as good as Hendry, Cully or Boynton.
He is basically getting twice as much as the 3 lower end Hawk D men and he is under contract for next year....these guys are not.

Boynton makes $500,000
Cullimore makes $500,000
Hendry makes $600,000

If those numbers are true we shouldn't even be having this discussion.

Send a message via ICQ to DisgruntledHawkFan
A team depleted with injuries used him as a #6 and played him less then a minute. He's a nothing player.

There is no point acquiring players who cannot be trusted on the ice when it matters. We already HAVE a couple defensemen like that.

(sigh)

Unless you know a player's cap hit, and it's affect on the team's cap situation, it's a waste of time saying "we should get him".

Please do your homework before starting a thread.

Otherwise, it's a waste of time we will never get back.
