We really need to move him for someone who can play a physical top six spot. Crabb should be in the AHL
MacArthur - Grabovski - Kulemin
Kessell - Bozak - Crabb

I have NOOOO idea why Crabb is getting a call and a shot on the top line over Caputi. Why did we trade for him if we are going to not even give him icetime in situations like this.

I want Beauchemin as good as gone, but Beauchemin a bottom pairing defender? worth a 4-5th round pick? I guess you're entitled to your opinion but you're not going to pass it off as fact little man

This. (although Crabb has been playing left wing)

While Bozak has been pretty bad this year, there seems to be a sentiment that if they can get him another weapon (or at least a big guy to create some space), we'll see mildly more success and maybe get them scoring around the goal per game that most teams need out of their top line. Defensive production should increase aswell.

He's a better defenceman than Wisniewski is. It is however a moot point because he's not going to get traded for picks.

He has been terrible in my opinion. I am a Canucks fan and I usually watch Toronto on TSN or in Hockey Night and he is such a bad defensemen. Since the Leafs are usually on, I probably watched 1/3 of Beauchemin's season and he stinks.

No because he was leading the Islanders in points and is 26 years old while your boy Beauchemin has 6 points so far, Wiz has 2/3 of that in 2 games for the Habs.

You do realize that the #1 priority of a defenceman is to keep the puck away from your goaltender, right?

Wisniewski is a marginally better offensive defenceman (and we're talking about splitting hairs here). The difference in their production comes from the fact that the Leafs are not set up to get points from their defence. Defencemen pick up points from a strong cycle game (because they should be the last ones in the zone) and by throwing the puck on net with traffic infront, something Toronto is notouriously bad at establishing. They also have Kaberle on the PP while the Isles have missed Streit.

With all those points, he also managed to be a -18 while the next worst defenceman on his team was a -12 followed by a -7. Beauchemin is a -7 (2nd worst on his team), but at least that's in line with the rest of the team and the fact that he plays the most. Phaneuf is a -6, Schenn/Aulie are -5, Kaberle/Gunnarsson are -3 and Komisarek is -2....

FWIW, I don't know how the QUALCOMP thing works, but his QUALCOMP is -.071 which would be 3rd worst on the Islanders. (only Gervais & Hillen had a lower qualcomp) Beauchemin is .080, highest on the Leafs.

edit: We really should try and steer this thread towards what would be actually going on in reality... not bickering over what his "draft pick value" is because he wouldn't get traded for picks anyways. Any ideas on players who would play on the leafs top line that would be offered up in deals that include Beauchemin?

First off, leading the isles in points is good, but then again its the isles. I forgot points were the only thing that matters when it comes to defense eh. Does AW have a cup ring? Did he average almost 30 mins a night in a cup run? Beauche isn't a double digit minus either. Not to mention Beauchemin is a leader.

He also has 67% of his points on the PP where he spends close to 5 minutes per game (3rd highest d-man PPTOI/GP in league). In fact in actual tough hockey minutes (ES & SH) he has 9 points to Beauchemin's 6 while facing far inferior competition.

I trust most of us realize however that points are not what defensemen are about to begin with.
