I'm fine with the Rangers being a part of it and with it being at Yankee Stadium but please.. stop using teams that have already been apart of it, NHL.. sigh

Can't be.

Yankee Stadium is hosting a bowl game the next few years. Not possible now.

Lambeau would be amazing, but they won't do that because there is no team there. Soldier Field makes a lot of sense.

My crazy idea? Dodger Stadium.

Don't ask me to explain the science behind it! I am not a scientist!

I am a dreamer.

why would they use the red wings? Sure they are good, but I don't even find them that fun of a team to watch... at least the Pens are 'fun' to watch if i have to...

Hell, I'd rather see Rangers-Bruins (duh)

Well whoever that guys "good authority" was clearly had absolutely no idea what they were talking about since Yankee Stadium is locked into a bowl game for the next 5 years.

I think it is possible at Yankee Stadium. They can work around the bowl schedule. The Pinstripe Bowl was played on Decembr 23rd. the Steelers played a Home game the same night

And of course pittsburgh needs to immediately get the ice off the field when this game is over as the Steelers will be back home very soon. That isn't an issue at Yankee Stadium

My bad, I swear I looked an an article that had it on the 23rd.

Anyway. bowl season starts around the 21rst , and runs into the second week of January. No reason they couldn't make the date for the bowl work around the winter classic.

Except the majority of schools can't play in Bowls before Christmas because of finals. That is why you only see 5-6 bowls before Christmas.

Yankee Stadium really isn't an option for the Winter Classic. Especially since ESPN tells these bowls when they are going to be played and they certainly aren't going to cater to NBC's needs.

Bruins vs Habs in Montreal- there must be an open stadium available nearby.

Personally, I think Rangers-Bruins at the New Meadowlands stadium next year would be awesome. It could also renew the rivalry like the 2010 Winter Classic did with the Bruins-Flyers.

You won't ever see a Canadian team in the Winter Classic. This event is geared towards USA markets.

lol @ all the people who complain about having the Pens again, yet want to see Rangers Bruins. Bettman will have Coyotes Thrashers and will run cooling units 24/7 to make it possible!

"Lol @ all the people who" post ridiculous generalizations like they are true 100% of the time in every situation...........

The NHL isn't stupid. The Winter Classic is it's cash cow. They don't care if your team has played in it before. It's going to pick the big money generating teams, not make it "fair" for everyone.

Buffalo has never played the habs in outdoor game.

habs/Calgary is not the Winter Classic, it is the Heritage Classic.

well the first Winter Classic was Buffalo vs Pens (not counting the Kings vs Rags in Vegas). It is more for the US market like what was before said since the NHL is falling behind in popularity here behind football and baseball (possibly basketball, don't know the statistics).

I would love to see the Bruins in the Winter Classic again soon, but unless we pick up Crosby...I dont see it happening.

Then hold it at Fenway again. It is criminal that this ancient rivalry hasn't been in the Classic yet.

No reason you can't have the Bruins in the Heritage Classic though, as long as its in Canada.

Yes, that would be a distinct possibility, though I imagine the first one or two would be with 2 Canadian teams.

You won't see a Canadian team in the Winter Classic. It's about marketing the game in the US. It will have two US teams.

If Boston and Montreal play in an outdoor game, it would have to be something else, like a Heritage Classic or something new.
