Leafs have an offer for Versteeg

Just watching the hotstove, and leburn said the leafs are not shopping versteeg, but they are listening. They apparently have a good offer for him.

I highly doubt they would move him unless they had a VERY good offer

I can guarantee whatever the offer is, its not very good.

Versteegs value has gone down quite a bit, and for good reason.

Yeah he said that it made Burke pause as he was innitially not interested in moving him..

Would have to think that someone offered near or more than what Burke feels he gave up for him wouldn't we? Wonder what it was.

Honestly, Versteeg has much more value on a contender.

I have no issue with our secondary scoring situation, we need a legit first line. Anything else, other than selling for picks/prospects and rebuilding which Burke probably won't do, is just rearranging deck chairs on the titanic. Unless Burke gets a no-brainer offer, any move with Versteeg would be linear.

What? Hes on pace for a career year. How has his value dropped? (pro-rated 82gp - 23g 32a 55p)

Anyways, it has to be a very good prospect or a mid prospect and a 1st to give burke "pause". Nothing else makes sense.

I'd trade Versteeg in a package for a player like Penner. Would Edmonton be interested in such a swap?

He was always seen as a guy who was being held back on a very deep Hawks roster. If hes just a 55 point guy, you won't see anyone giving up anything jaw dropping to get his services.

As an Edmonton fan, it doesn't seem like it really helps us improve at all.

Uhh no. His value has gone up. I would like to keep him but if it means trading him in a package or something for a center or a big winger, then do it.

LeBrun also said that the offer apparently made the Leafs pause, meaning it was a good offer.

I'm not opposed to trading him but I like the guy. He bring a lot of versatility, plays well defensively despite what the +/- stat tell you and he's on pace for a career year despite a horrible start.

I wonder if Burke can try to pry away J. Staal for Steeg +?

Can't see how that makes any sense. He's on pace for the same or more goals/points than he's ever put up, on a much worse team.

I'm not saying the offer is anything or Versteeg's been great -- it likely isn't and he hasn't been -- but he's rebounded from a terrible start where he tried to do everything, into a solid contributor who doesn't attempt to dangle himself into oblivion.

A 2nd would hardly make Burke pause. So what else could it be? As i said, it ahs to be a very good prospect of a package with a 1st involved. Burke would hang up with anything less.

Jesus H, do you have to there? No, he can't. No, he won't. Don't turn this into a Jordan Staal thread that ends in people laughing at you, please.

plays about the same amount of minutes on a much worse team and is on pace for 11 more points. could be playing on a better line if the leafs werent trying to balance some offence. he will have more potential playing with some better players. i would rather the leafs keep him.

Um yea actually. You guys picked up Versteeg with what idea? For him to play on the top line. Because like many, you saw him as a top line player being played on the 2nd/3rd on the cup winning Blackhawks.

We can go back to the threads when he was picked up. Most Leaf fans sure as hell weren't hoping he'd be a 55 point player.

Hes 3rd line on one of the worst teams in the league. So no, his value has gone down. Not up.

Oilers don't need Steeger, he'd rot on the 3rd line here.

He doesn't really have size, something the Oilers need and dealing Penner would be a mistake.
