Kind of like how the Rangers dominated them the previous 2-3 seasons? Tampa isn't that good and the Rangers do match up well with them. The fact that they somehow won the last two games is mind boggling. The first game they definitely 100% outplayed the Rangers.

Everyone who is ripping Gilroy for that goal, please stop. I know he's the team's whipping boy, but he didn't make the mistake on that play. Everyone's golden boy Sauer did. So rip him. But you won't. And I like Sauer, but that was a terrible miss.

I disagree, he made 8-10 very good saves with a sliding pad, glove or blocker. Shots that were going to go in. The goalie was hot tonight nothing else you can do. Its a good point.

Kind of nitpicking but Hank could have stuck out the stick to stop the cross crease. Didn't see the replay but it seemed like it was close enough.

Hate to be that guy, but remember that their were some instances of terrible refereeing in this game. We match up fine against these ******** yet we still manage to lose somehow. Oh well.

A point is fine, considering a minute before the OT we were all ready to punch a brick wall and leave without anything.

Yeah I was thinking the same think. Two weeks ago, our HF pre-teens acted like MDZ was a 9-11 conspirator after a rough stretch, and now after a sloppy game by Gilroy, he suddenly becomes Rod Langway. Suit him up, Torts. I need more neutral zone turnovers!

Can MDZ's punishment be over, please? Gilroy continues to prove he's unaware of the concept of playing defense at the NHL level.

I really wonder how rusty the 70'ies Islander bandwagon is now... Must be utterly sad to sit on it.. Gotta say...

Without this, it wouldn't be the HFBoards we know and love

Oh yeah, and Moore is a *****.

I suppose Henke should just push the post off whenever he wants, as well. How about on a breakaway?

Seriously the next time Crosby is on a breakaway, Henrik should just turn around and push the net off its moorings. If the NHL is cool with that kind of bush league ********.

I think gilroy made that right play because if that guy with the puck decided to bring it out in front instead of passing he would have a had a clear path there. Also Gabby was pretty close to Thompson, another stride and he has him covered. Couple ifs on that GWG, but it doesn't matter it is what happened and we gotta get our head ready for tomorrow night...we came away with a point against a phenomenal team!

Folks, Desjardins made some great saves in the 3rd period.

The Rangers didn't "make" him look good.

The real takeaway from this game for any of you guys should be how good of a defensive job the Rangers did on St. Louis, Stamkos, & Lecavalier. Didn't really notice them after the 1st.

I'm not calling for his head, but you don't make that play in that situation. I think MDZ might have done the same thing too, but the young guys have to be smarter and just keep it simple. Guard the net when the game is on the line.

I'm happy getting a point when it seemed like this team might be frustrated by the outcome, but, really, I'm still stunned by Gilroy's Pete Rose imitation.

Don't make what mistake.....you mean try to block the pass and miss instead of playing your man in front? It was a stupid choice. He stays on his feet, Thompson does not get a wide open chance and they play on. 2 meatheads on the ice for Tampa and the Gilroy/Sauer pair make them look like Gretzky and Messier.

His defense partner is in the corner. His responsibility is the front of the net, not to completely take himself out of the play.

Not really...he was behind the net. If he moves up then Gilroy can one knee it. No need to totally take yourself out of the play. That was a desperation backwards lunge which was not necessary. Stepan would have had enough time to cover for Gilroy if he stayed up if the the guy attacked from BEHIND THE GOALINE.

If Sauer doesn't miss the puck along the boards, Gilory doesn't have to make that play in the 1st place. And if Gaborik had any semblance of a backcheck, he might have prevented Thompson from getting the shot.

Gilroy went down a second or two too late. If he went down a bit earlier, the pass gets blocked.
