Winter Classic 2012

On the CBC broadcast it was mentioned that Philadelphia (the linc) is being considered as the host site for next year's winter classic. If the flyers did in fact host the 2012 winter classic what team would you most like to see them play?

I would most like to see them matched up against the rangers (a more classic rivalry) or Montreal. I think over the past few years we have really developed an intense rivalry with the Canadiens and our games both regular and postseason have been really exciting solid hockey games.

I'd actually prefer a Western Team. Detroit, VAN, SJ, LA would do.

God, I hope not. It should be hosted out West somewhere.

i'd prefer the rags. it's been too long since i hated the rangers more than anything in the world.

Yea, Flyers Rags would be a great game. If it was a western team... chicago would be sweet. A rematch.

My guess is that they are going to do the Heritage Classic every year for the Canadian teams.

Since the NHL loves to make-up rivalries it'll probably be some **** like the Flyers vs. Modo hockey.

I have always thought the rink looked incredibly out of place and stupid in a baseball park as opposed to a football stadium. The rink sits nicely inside of a football field, and perhaps the worst aspect of a baseball park are that the majority of the seats looks like they have terrible viewing angles

Vancouver at Philly would be amazing. The teams definitely have some history and they score a lot of goals.

I really hope they don't pick us again. It's supposed to be a special thing. Not an every other year thing.

I dont know, at either venue you are going to have fans with crappy seats. I was at Fenway last year and really liked the way it was laid out. One thing that would help with CBP is that the seats in the outfield are all elevated a good 12 feet.

IIRC, NBC has a lot to do with the Winter Classic and they probably aren't going for Canadian viewers.

Honestly, I'd like to see another team get a chance before the Flyers again. I enjoyed this year's WC but I didn't need to see the Penguins again so soon.

I agree, this years seemed tainted b.c of the forced rivalry and the penguins getting a second go 'round on it already... Although I do remember hearing last year when the Flyers were selected that one of the reasons why the Flyers agreed to go on the road was that it was in agreement that they would be hosting one of their own in a few short years (?)...

Any who, I think NY has got to be in the next one even if they have to host it somewhere unorthodox. The biggest market in NA hasn't had ice hockey's premier one day event is kinda strange.

Should be western teams this time. Like LA @ Colorado or something. Two teams with young stars coming up.

As long as the game is controlled by NBC you will never see a team without a huge star or a team with huge national ratings.

Get used to Crosby, Ovechkin, the Flyers, and Original 6 teams.

Also, it just looks set up better on a baseball field. It looks better on TV when its on a baseball field. Just my personal preference however

I have a strong feeling NYC will be the next eastern conference city to host one. Possibly Rags - Devils, Islanders, Flyers.

I feel like they're going out west next year. Detroit Colorado would be my guess to try and play off that old time rivalry. Denver will host because Wings fans travel extremely well.

^^^^

I like the idea of Detroit @ Colorado.

Out of the East teams, I agree that the Rangers really should get their turn. If the Leafs were a bit better I think a rags/ TML matchup would be really suitable.

Yeah, I'd love to watch an Avs-Wings game. I miss that rivalry.

It would be retarded to give it to Philly. That would make 4 out of 5 years with a PA based team and it's not fair to the rest of the league. This game has already lost it's luster for me as it seems Crosby or Ovie are going to be involved every other year. Having the Heritage game is overkill but at least it's a legit rivalry.
