Rangers Prospect Poll: #1

The New Year is upon us and that means a new prospect poll.

THE RULES

WHO IS A PROSPECT: We can't all have different standards based on what we each want personally. We are on the HF board, so let's follow their rules. The standard for what's a prospect is here: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/whatmakesaprospect

HOW TO RANK PROSPECTS: Based on their value in a hypothetical trade or waiver draft. This takes into consideration a prospect's ceiling, how close he's to making it, his health, work ethic, the whole deal. Imagine there was a prospect waiver draft and you could keep only one prospect. That guy is our #1 prospect. Then imagine we had one more waiver protection. That guy is our #2 prospect.

CATEGORIES: We'll have top 30 prospects with 5 unranked honorable mentions. The top 10 will be "Top Prospects", the second 10 will be "Second-Tier" and the final 10 will be "Projects & Suspects".

Don't forget to list who you want added to the poll in the next round.

The previous rankings from the summer of 2010:

I have a feeling I know who will run away with the #1 spot.

Add Ryan Bourque.

Ok people, I put down what the standard is. It doesn't matter who YOU consider a prospect. You are a visitor at HockeysFuture and they have a standard.

We need to have one set, clear standard everyone follows. Otherwise, some people will regard Grachev as a non-prospect, while others will still hope that Malakhov will develop into Leetch.

Damn, Sauer slipped my mind. I would've definitely put him in the top-6 in the first round.

No big deal, he would not have won as Step is going to run away with it. I will change my Add to Sauer.

I remember when I was fighting to keep Sauer in the top 15.

This one is easy. Stepan, add Sauer.

Pashnin, McDonagh, Grachev should fall moderately. Horak, Fasth, Kundtratek should rise

Bourque should rise a lot and Werek somewhat too. I expect Grachev to fall more than moderately. He should not be in the top-10 IMO.

Stepan is the better player right now. I think Kreider will be the better player in a few years. Kreider.

I agree.

With my votes, I was going with now...

But when you put it that way, I don't know what to pick.

I'll stick with Stepan for now.

As good as Stepan has been I still think Kreider has more upside. He's just a beast.

Add Sauer.

I don't think Grachev should leave the top10, but he will definitely not be in the top5.

Stepan, add Sauer.

Shouldn't we just call this one now? Stepan is pretty much the clear cut #1.

The interesting ones will be 3-10 IMO, with Kreider seeming to be a lock for #2.
