What do you think it would take to get Patrick Kaleta on the Flyers?. I hate him but he could be invaluable come playoff time

Do not want. Besides, we have plenty of sandpaper. Pronger, Hartnell, Carcillo, heck, even Richards and Briere. Kaleta would be overkill.

Kaleta in a Flyer's jersey = 5 games suspension at the door.

Nolan provides vet leadership and can chip in once a while.
What exactly has Zheredev brought to the table?

Dont think Phil is getting that ripped off.

They do need to upgrade over bartulis and i think they will. Wonder if mckee or even witt have anything to offer as your 7th dman? wouldnt cost anything. sign to a 25 game tryout with the phantoms then make a decision. If those guys want back in the nhl that bad, that is the route they need to go.
Forgot he was still unsigned. He would be a good depth d man, better than those other 2.

Yeah...if Dallas falls off we should try to add Ott AND Kaleta. Like the Devs had the old A Line we could have the A-hole Line.

The Sabres changing their name to the Flyers, which might piss off Ed Snider.

There's no room on this team for guys like that.

No thank you. The last thing this team needs is for Kaleta to run someone, puss out, and then Richie or someone else has to fight the opposing team in his place. Not to mention the suspensions that would abound if he were in orange and black.

I would put their needs in order as:

1. Minor upgrade in net - this could drop if Bob or Leighton really step up in the 2nd half.
2. PK Specialist - this would help keep Richards & Giroux's leg in a long playoff run. (Sjostrom, Smithson, Fiddler, Reasoner)
3. Forward with Size - Brad Winchester, Rutuu (either one), Eager-type. - none are great but all can play a regular shift and provide more size.
4. Forward Strong Face Offs - This could be the same person as the PK Specialist. (Fiddler, Reasoner)

There will not be a player available to give you what Z does at the tradeline unless you want to ravage you prospect pool and draft picks. Z isn't great but Homer's gamble is paying off. Teams like the Rags, Trashers, Pens will be looking to ad a sniper at the dealine and won't get one as good as Z.

Move Matt Walker, for something. As a Flyers fan I would love to see a 2nd round draft pick be acquired for something. Trading Coburn wouldn't be the end all of moves. Wouldn't Boucher have more value than Leighton. Leighton is only 30 and did play above average and is signed to an okay deal.

I guess I'm one of the only ones who wants to give Leights a chance before running him out of town? I think Bob/Leights could be a dirty 1-2 combo.

That being said, trade Shelley for a case of beer, we may be able to get some Keystone or Natty for him.

didnt like the way he was playing like many of us early in the season but sisnce Lavi sat his ass in the pressbox he has come back and has played very well. He is scoring goals which what he was brought in to do. Everyone knows he sucks defensively. Just like Briere. Thats not their job. If you give the effort and score some goals no one should complain.

Fiddler or Reasoner would be great additions at the deadline.

one less goalie and one less team looking for a goalie off the market.

Shooter will end up with voukoun and 5th for carle, leighton, prospect. I think they will end up with him at some point. I think it will happen, if it does sooner rather than later.
Then deal carcillo and a pick for a bottom pairing dman. Then move bartulis and a pick for a bottom 6 forward.

Do you think Florida would take that deal? I would, which makes me think they might not.

I do not think vokoun is going to get this great package that many think he will. I could be wrong though. Now they may have to include their 1st or as i said the top prospect, that is even if florida likes any of the flyers prospects. To answer your question it depends imo what other deals are out there is out there. Does florida pull another jaybo and try to make the playoffs with vokoun? Carle and 1st i think could do it with Leighton as added to make the salary work.

Vokoun and a 5th for Carle, Leighton, and a prospect?

Holy ****. Sign me up.

On to more realistic side of things, if I was going to go after Vokoun, I'd try for:

(NOTE: Curent draft picks in 2011 owned by the Flyers: PHI 1st, PHI 3rd, PIT 3rd, PHI 4th, TBL 4th, PHI 6th, PHI 7th.)

Carle + Zherdev + Leighton + PHI 1st + Bourdon/Marshall

for

Vokoun + FLA 2nd

Hartnell (4.20) - Briere (6.50) - Leino (0.80)
vanRiemsdyk (1.65) - Carter (5.00) - Powe (0.73)
Nodl (0.85) - Richards (5.75) - Giroux (0.82)
Carcillo (1.08) - Betts (0.70) - Shelley (1.10)
Wellwood (0.58)

Pronger (4.92) - Meszaros (4.00)
Timonen (6.33) - Coburn (3.20)
Bartulis (0.60) - O'Donnell (1.30)
Walker (1.70)

Vokoun (5.70)
Bobrovsky (1.75)

TOTAL: 59.26
CAP: 59.40
SPACE: 00.14

gee cliff your deal is essentially the same as mine, yet yours is realistic. Bourdon/marshall have no trade value, they are an irrelevent piece. Panthers have no interest in zherdev. so it boils down to carle, leighton and a 1st, which is what i said. The flyers dont need a top goalie though you believe. Giving up zherdev and carle losses all that depth you speak so highly of on this team. how will they replace it? wellwood is the answer.
