Good grief, the whining about officiating from Hab fans is getting disgusting now.
Yea, they missed that call. But Subban took an obvious hook call. There's no such thing as a weak hooking call in this league anymore. You will get called for the slightest tug with the stick.
Stop putting losses on the refs and put them on the team...or give the team that beat them some credit. Pavelec stood on his head...he played better than Price. Thrashers took advantage of their opportunities. End of story.
While I agree it's not the refs fault, if the high stick call doesn't get missed the PK hook doesn't happen and who knows maybe it's Montreal who scored on the PP in OT! I think that's where the frustration sits!
I'd like to see that line up! But eh, it's a small change. I am actually really pleased with Martin's lineups the last few games. Finally using the most sensible combinations. I just hope they get more time to stick together.
EDIT: Also I was a little disappointed with Subban on the last play taking that penalty, I feel like he slacked on the return and if he would have come back hard he would have been in a position to not need to take that penalty. However, he was trusting the two guys to take the two Thrashers players, I get that, but I just wish he came back hard and then didn't need to do that... blargh. We deserved to win that one.
-We lost cleanly at least 3 faceoffs while shorthanded in OT. The last one lost by Halpern killed us.
-The Subban penalty was caused by the laziest backcheck in the history of the game (ok that's exaggerated a bit). When he decided to skate it was too late. I like P.K. but there is no doubt that he was putting a better effort earlier this season at returning to his position after a failed offensive rush.
-The Price of the last 2 weeks is the exact same Price than last year. Definitely not a good thing.
-Other than those negative points it was actually a good game by the Habs and it was pretty entertaining.
Team is in desperate need of a finisher. How can you outshoot opponents so badly and lose? It's pathetic. Some credit to the goalies yes, but someone put the damn puck in the net.
Spacek is worse than Brisebois and I cannot wait until Kostitsyn is gone.
You can't really say anything bad about Spacek today...
Just wondering....how many games before Mr. Moen becomes accountable as well? Is he just a 4th liner we should not care about? Great coverage on one of the goals....
Good question. Moen has been especially brutal for some time. When I see players like him lounging around in their defensive assignments and being knocked off the puck I really wonder what behind-the-scenes atrocities Lapierre committed to get HIS ass shipped out of town.
Did you watch the game, or simply listen to Benoit Brunet talk?
Kostitsyn had some great passes out there.
So that's where our expectations have gone now? A couple of good passes are enough to be fine with his game? A top 6 player that has the greatest wrister of the team and almost the entire league? That has the power to change the outcome of the game?
Listening to some of you talk, you'd think we're talking about Pyatt for a second.....But again, I guess that's what the expectations are....
I'd like to see that line up! But eh, it's a small change. I am actually really pleased with Martin's lineups the last few games. Finally using the most sensible combinations. I just hope they get more time to stick together.
Forget it, you won't see Moen or Spacek out of the lineup anytime soon.
Yeah because defensive minded coach Jacques Martin wasn't able to make the offense go tonight.... WTF
An offensive coach would teach better systems in the offensive zone. One of the reasons for our lack of finish is we enter the zone the same way every time and dump the puck at the net from wide angles or in front of the net when nobody is there. We need someone to teach our guys set up, we have guys who can shoot and pass.
All the lose pucks in front shows the Habs real need is a big body in the top 6 that can take the abuse and coral those pucks in.
AK needs to go, doesn't go there and his poke checks at his size in the offensive zone is getting sick to watch, not liking his game when you see his linemates flying out there making opportunities and chances.
Price was sub par, made some timely saves but also let in a softie.
Like the D, Spacek still with the give-aways kills me. One save in OT helps him. When Gorges is back I think JM has to sit Spacek, the others are playing too well to be in the press box.
Eller back in the line up over Moen and Pyatt too please.
so sick of this joke league and reffs system of helping small markets teams win and get fans
That's probably not far from the truth.
In a world where people can crash the biggest economy on the planet, make their company lose billion $ and still get paid tens of millions of $ in the process, a small bias in sports refereeing is entirely possible and not unthinkable.
You can't really say anything bad about Spacek today...
lol are you ****ing kidding? The puck is a grenade on his stick. Sure he saved one goal in OT but he is just terrible. Awful awful decisions with the puck.
Desharnais won 5 out of his 6 faceoffs tonight, for people who watched many Hamilton games is he normally good on faceoffs? That is something we've been struggling with a lot lately.
He should have called a timeout to have Plekanec and Gill on the ice.
Yes but Martin doesn't like to waste those time outs you may need it later
Price cost the team this game, he wasn't strong Auld probably would of won this one. Of course Price won more games this year for his team that he has cost them.
If the team keeps playing this way the wins will start coming in, they finally are showing effort again.
Refs are horrid as usual. They put the whistles away when Habs were trailing in third then with a tie game they pull them back out and as expect it's in Atlanta's favor. It's time for Habs staff to rip into the league and take a fine or whatever. Habs are always on the short end this year with the refs except for a hand full of games.

Well quite frankly I think I'd rather Spacek in if Gorges is out, when he comes back though I'd be ecstatic if Martin went with
Hamrlik - Wisniewski
Gorges - Weber
Gill - Subban
For a few games and let Spacek sit it out for a bit, but yeah, I think he'll decide to keep the 4 Left/2 Right handed thing and sit one of Weber/Subban and play somebody on their off side.

No today we saw that when they are committed to win the battles and they work the system is fine against another speedy and way bigger team, the only thing that was lacking was finish the team was having great puck control in their zone today.
