I am not saying that Grachev is like Maudie. I am just saying that one good season does not mean he can be a below average AHLer for 2 seasons and still be regarded as one of the top prospects on a youth-rich team that had what look to be great drafts for 3 years on a row since 2008.

And as I said, point taken. You could have simply stated that, rather than bringing up a guy with almost nothing in common. Just clouds your argument.

MZA and it shouldnt be close. Kreider has a long way to go to be scoring at a PPG clip in the AHL. Or to dominate the SEL.

Youre talking about a 23 year old 5 foot 7 guy here. Corey Locke put up better AHL numbers than Zucc at the same age, meant nothing.

MZA should be top 10.

IMO Sauer should definitely be 3 or 4.

I think he will be elected before Grachev to a top 10 spot, but before Kreider?

Who has already dominated a men's league in the SEL and played very well in the Olympics. I know Kredier has huge potential but MZA has top-6 potential, like Kreider, and is already playing in the NHL. I'll take the very close to sure-thing over the "maybe".

I see where you are coming from, but to me, Zucc's size, leg speed, and strength are as big "maybes" as the fact that Kreider is less far along in development.

Players Zucc's size, coming to the NHL late, and having success are an extreme anomaly. One ever 5 years, maybe. Kreider, who lit up the WJC's and was a highly scouted first, guys like him make it all the time.

Yeah, Zucca is far from a "very close to sure thing."

Kreider is pretty damn close to a sure thing to make it to the NHL in some capacity.

They both have great upside, but we know with Kreider that he should at least be able to play a bottom six role if his offense doesn't develop. If Zucca's offense doesn't translate to the NHL, then he's not going to be in the league.

Its the same with every offensive player though. Heatley, Ovechkin, Semin, Cammelerri, Roy, etc. None of them would be in the NHL if their offense didn't translate.

I like Kreider, but to me, if Zuccarello was drafted by the Rangers and had just dominated the SEL for over a season, just come over and was scoring like he is now in the AHL, he would be this teams #2. People seem to hold it against him that he wasn't drafted.

Neither Zucca nor Kreider are a sure thing, but there's no doubt in mind that 1) Kreider has a higher potential; and 2) the odds of them making it in the NHL long-term are similar, with only a small advantage for Zucca.

Zucca proved nothing yet. He's still very much on the bubble as to whether he'll stick around or go to the AHL. He may be closer to the NHL in his development, but Kreider has the advantage of superior size and speed.
