At the exact same time it says MDZ is sent down if I'm nt mistaken. I'm surp[rised Kundratek didn't get the call usually doesn't Scho tell Torts who to call based on who's playing best and Kundratek has been the best by all accounts. Maybe they are hoping to kick start McD by getting his feet wet while MDZ realigns himself?
Interesting. When this idea first came up a couple weeks ago, I wasn't sure how I felt about sending Del Guido down to the Pack. Now, however, I've warmed to the idea.
I've heard mixed reports on McDonagh thus far this season, so it will be interesting to see what he can do.
Now I was under the impression that Vtank was having a better season than McD.
Obviously they didnt call up Kundratek because of the RD logjam, instead it was one of the two to be called. But maybe they promised McD a look before the contract signing? who knows.
Eminger will play top 4, I imagine, McD wont be forced into top 4 minutes. Staal-Girardi, Eminger-Rozy, McD-Sauer/Gilroy.
i think this is a good move.. MDZ needs to get his confidence back. he looked like a joke on the Higgins goal last night. The kid is still young hopefully this helps him in the long run, and not hurt his confidence.
Del Zotto has been pretty bad for his last 90 or so NHL games.
He really needs to work on picking his spots and simplifying his game as a whole. Some time in Hartford should be good for him.
He was doing so much on instinct at the start of last season. He got tired around the midway mark but came back after the Olympic break and I thought played well down the stretch.
This season he's been amazingly tentative at all times and last night you could see him thinking instead of acting and reacting.
Let's see him go down and begin trusting himself again.

Its an interesting dilemma. I know what you mean about Del Zotto needing to get his confidence back, but far too often I feel like he plays with TOO MUCH confidence and its leading to more and more mistakes at this level.
They called up Grachev even though he may not have been the most deserving. They obviously see him as part of their future so why not give him a taste of the NHL to show him what he has to work towards.
I honestly thought he was a lock to make the team out of camp so I wouldnt be surprised if he was solid in a "Sauer-like" way.
What they expect from MDZ last night? He has not played a game in 2 weeks. The handling of MDZ has been perplexing. Sitting him out wasn't the answer. Sending him down to the AHL is the answer? They seem too concerned with the mistakes he makes instead of just letting him play. Not trying to compare MDZ to Leetch or Zubov but the latter two weren't Larry Robinson in their own end either. Thankfully Michel Bergeron and Roger Neilson didn't attempt to micromanage Leetch who needed a compass in his own zone when was in his 2nd and 3rd years.
Regarding McD over Valentenko
Jim Schoenfeld
Quote:
- Defenseman Ryan McDonagh is reading the game well and his puck-handling has improved
- Defenseman Pavel Valentenko, though a strong skater, needs to work on his foot speed
