I agree, I actually miss him on our D.

Count me in with the "terrified he's going to try to recall him after sending him down" crowd.

phillyfanatic, you're on notice. If he sends him down and then re-calls him only to have him claimed on re-entry waivers, what are you going to say?

ossi vaaaanaaaannnaaaan was the one guy i hated to see leave via waivers. i was hoping that the flyers would give him a look for our 3rd pairing for this year, but don o'seannell has been a beast. i also want thoresen back if any of nodl, carcillo, shelley (dream), or powe aren't back next year, but that's another situation all together.

as for that emery comment, i read an article a month or so ago that said the flyers would consider giving him an ahl contract next season if they were in need. they obviously aren't interested in him in the nhl any more.

someone correct me if i'm wrong, but if MFL is claimed on reentry waivers, we would be completely off the hook for his salary and cap hit next year, right?

If he is claimed on re-entry waivers we are on the hook for HALF of his cap hit for this year AND next year.

If he is claimed now, on regular waivers, we wouldn't be liable for anything.

gotchya, i was under the impression that if there was more than one year remaining, the team that claims him would be fully responsible for years beyond the year the claim was made.

possibly... but they could have just decided that they're not going to risk burning points getting him up to speed at the NHL level anytime soon, and it was better for everyone this way.

i think alot of you guys are reading way more into this then is clearly there..

first off im sad to hear Leights is getting released to the Phantoms (unless he gets picked up by another team), but at the end of the day what Holmgren said is true..

its better for everyone to have leights playing instead of this 3 ring circus we have now..

Boosh is playing well so it makes sence right now to play teh hot hand and have Bobo getting games when they can give it to him.

by having Leights playing games in the AHL it free him up to be NOT sitting in the press box or cooling off on teh boards during practise..

now if the Flyers would have severed ties with Leighton altogether then i would admit defeat. but i dont think thats the case here at all..

sure there is a risk this backfires on Holgren if another team scoops him up and Boosh breaks down or Bobo falls flat..

cross that road when we get there so to speak as Homer said..

for now thou i'll be saddened to not be watching Leights in Orange n Black...

i just hope Boosh doesnt sit back and play like a turd, given he no longer has to fight for games..

If Leighton gets healthy and does well in the AHL, I can see someone trading for him. I really don't wanna see him get Jones'd.

He would still have to pass through waivers. No one will trade for him til the offseason. And, at that point, if we don't re-sign Boosh then he might have a job.

When I went to the Flyers game against the Islanders 2 months ago with McNasty, a puck flew into a crowd, an easy blooper. He goes "leave it to an Islanders fan to drop an easy one like that" to which I responded "To be fair, he's wearing a Rick DiPietro jersey."

I think he took a shot to a soft spot into his stomach, though. It'd be funny to watch the LOLanders blow a 3 goal lead because Deepie goes down. As if they plagued with injuries already and the entire team has a huge case of The Suck.

Don't know if you can call it cursed when he has such job security and is set up for life... More like Snow is cursed.
