Haha, that is my nickname for J-Roll.

I've also never seen him do push-ups immediately after popping up.

Indeed.

True story:
I had a player on my Babe Ruth team who was actually slightly retarded. He could run like the wind and played a mean outfield, but he spoke with a slur and had a cleft lip.

If I still knew him, I would nickname him the Flyin' Hawaiian.

Alomar and Blyleven inducted into the Hall of Fame. No arguments on that, but I would have liked to see a few others make it (McGwire, Bagwell, and Palmiero). Jayson Stark wrote a pretty good article about the HOF and seroids the other day. Pretty good stuff. Basically said that if they don't start voting for players who did steroids, there will be times where no one gets in and that they (meaning the Hall and the voters) need to take a stand one way or another.

So I actually went to the Hall of Fame last week, turns out my dad's hunting lodge is only an hour and a half from Cooperstown, and as far as roids are concerned, they have A-Rods ugly mug plastered all over in the current leaders/ all-time leaders area. They don't even the asterik next to his name, which I was pretty disappointed in. They even have Barry Bonds **** scattered throughout the place.

Yeah, I think they should let guys regardless of steroids, but make clear on the plaque that the player tested positive. But a player like Jeff Bagwell never tested positive and never was connected to it in any way (that I know of, at least) and he has the stats and awards etc that he should be in the Hall for sure. A lot of people they talked to on ESPN insinuated that they didn't vote for Bagwell because they think he was on roids, even though there is no proof. That is really a shame that just because a guy had muscles and clobbered the ball he gets shafted. Makes me wonder what will happen when Frank Thomas is up for induction. He clearly has the numbers to be inducted but he was ridiculously huge. I know he was an advocate for drug testing throughout his career so maybe that will help him. Guess we'll find out.

Good signing for them, I was always a fan of Lee.

If he could transpose some of his BAA into more HRs he would make 2x his salary and be worth 1/2 as much...

Just like Howard.

Way too generous with Dom Brown imo. Those projections were before he flopped in winter ball though. Also missing Cliff because of the early publish.

I wonder if Bill James will update it once again (though the numbers wouldn't change, just the players on each team due to FA and trades.) I'm not sure how much he cares about Winter Ball. It all depends if there is a serious correlation between doing poorly and the following season's performance.

I know you did the sarcasm face, but that just means Jeremy Hellickson is going to be in the rotation.

yeah with price, niemann, shields, davis, and hellickson the Rays still have one of the deeper and younger rotations in the league. Losing crawford, pena, and garza is still going to set them back though and i could see them finishing 4th in the division behind the red sox, yankees, and blue jays.

Toronto would need big years again from bautista, wells, and lind and a bounce back years from hill and escobar to make up for their lack of pitching. I would usually take pitching over hitting every time but the Rays had a lineup that was already too dependent on Longoria and Crawford to produce runs. Unless zobrist and upton step up their games significantly they really just don't have pop to be a serious contender.

I read somewhere that Stanton struggled in winter ball last year (possibly read it here). However, no idea if that is true or not. While I think the Brown camp was trying to spin the situation a bit after he got pulled, there is something to be said about a young kid hitting the fatigue wall (mental or physical) by the end of the season.

Green's granddaughter killed in Arizona shooting

The young girl killed in Saturday’s mass shooting in Tucson, Ariz. was the nine-year-old granddaughter of Phillies legend Dallas Green.

Christina-Taylor Green, born on Sept. 11, 2001, was shot and killed during a trip to a Tucson Safeway where she had hoped to meet U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. According to the Arizona Star, Green had gone to the Safeway with a neighbor who also was shot but is recovering from surgery.
