Out of respect for Roloson, I'm glad he's gone. I didn't want him wasting the last year (or one of his last years) in the NHL here.

This dude would have to bust hardcore if he doesn't wind up with a regular NHL gig.
Poti is a nice comparison, but i'm not sure if he'll be that good offensively. I see him more as a Brad Stuart type or probably the most accurate comparison would be Nick Schultz or Josh Gorges.

roloson is still sporting his islanders mask tonight against washington.
i figured he would have at least one blank "practice" mask he could use while his new mask is being painted.
oh well, life goes on.

****in-A not only a win, but a shutout. Not only did I put this guy on my fantasy team, but count me in as a quasi-Lightning fan.

Interesting to see what kind of numbers he'll put up behind a talented team.

I am also happy for Roli for joining a sure fire NHL playoff team in Tampa.

(Thankfully, there weren't any poor-taste Lightning fans on our board gloating about the trade after the shutout. They obviously have more class than those blow-hard MTL fans. -- Just wait until the Wiz re-gains his defensive form).

Agreed. They were actually here thanking us!

But, in truth, I think it's in the nature both left our franchise. Before Roli was traded, most of us wanted him on a cup contender because he was such a class act and we all want him to succeed and we knew it wasn't here. Personally, I think he would have won it in Edmonton that year had he not gotten hurt.

As for Wiz, frankly, I'm pretty indifferent toward him and I could care less if he succeeds.

Martin Brodeur is my favorite play of all time. So I don't want to see him get beat.

The Isles are my favorite team, but everyone enjoys seeing DP get thrashed, so I was hoping Roloson would so DP could play.

My favorite player and favorite team just happen to be in the same division. Sorry that doesn't sit well with you.

As for the Roloson trade. One good game, one reallllyyy ugly game. Looks like the Lightning sang his praises too early. He was solid for us, but had a few games like he's having tonight, the Rangers game.

I don't think you can count on a 41 year old to play back to back nights or even carry the load for the Bolts the rest of this year.

Every picking him on their fantasy squad like he's the guy who's gonna carry the Bolts to a cup I think are mistaken. He has put up solid numbers this season and last, but he has some inconsistent times that could hurt.

blip on Roloson....he's proven how good he is despite one game. Tampa made a really smart move for a very low cost.

It'll most likely be Philly's loss - as usual. I still think they should have traded Giroux or Van Riemsdyk for Roloson last year

-- Top goaltender: Dwayne Roloson. No, hes not around anymore, but the 41-year-olds two-week stretch of play before he was dealt to Tampa was one of the best runs for any goaltender, anywhere, this season. He never loved the situation with Rick DiPietro and, according to two people who regularly talked to him, he was desperate to leave at last seasons trade deadline; now hes gone, which is a shame for Isles fans, but he gave all he had and then some, despite his unhappiness.
Do you think he'll resign here if we offered another 2 years?

If Jonas Gustavsson was put on waivers by Toronto, do you think Snow / Wang would pick him up? He makes $1.35m this year and next.

His sv% is .896 this year and was .902 last year.

Snow would have to figure out how to dial out from his office, figure out how waiver pickups work and would have two weeks before the NHL would let him know he didn't have to give Moulson in return for a waiver pickup. I don't think he would get past issue number one, though.

Less than zero chance Gustavsson is put on waivers. Burke flew to Sweden just to get him to sign with Toronto - he's staying.

Giguere will probably retire this year (that's been floating around, anyway) and Reimer's not ready to be an NHL goalie just yet - Gustavsson is a good goalie at a good price, not going anywhere.

Burke will be interesting at the deadline. He's brought in a lot of guys that have completely failed and it'll be interesting to see if he can/will deal them. Contracts will dictate far more than anything Burke WANTS to do but it'll be interesting nonetheless.

Haaaa, this would almost have been believable if it hadn't been for Pck, Schremp and Grabner.

He does have a thing for German names on the waiver wire though...
