IMO the jackets are done for the day minus call ups to join the show on the west coast.

Malkin is NOT coming to Columbus today or any other day this season, unless Nash is going the other way (imagine Crosby and Nash together? Yikes). Malkin took the morning skate this morning in Montreal something he would not have done if a deal was near completion.
They are going to make a move because:

1)They have 3 open roster spots
2)Arniel said the decision to waive Wilson was a part of a bigger plan to improve the roster.

Arniel said the Commodore situation would be solved today.

The Jackets would not send down their only extra forward (Moreau was put on IR) with no intentions of not making a roster move.

This:

#CBJ putting C Kyle Wilson on waivers was meant to clear a roster spot, because the potential is there for a large trade to go down soon.

Given my assumption that multiple players would seem to be coming to CBJ given the recent actions to clear roster space, I'm guessing NJD is the trade partner.

Same goes for Umberger, haven't even had it a month, so no trading him either

I don't think there will be any big trade. Myabe some 3rd or 4th liners.

1. The Commie situation is resolved - waivers
2. That leaves 3 Roster spots open = Callups

it shakes up the team some, without making any deals. I thought the one guy they might claim Marc-Andre Burgeron has cleared waivers.

I would expect to see some young guys called up, and inserted into the line up tomorrow, to shake up the lines and try to get some scoring going. I doubt Howson is making any trades at this point.

Could have been the team lining up, I don't know I hope I'm wrong but I think this is going to be weak at best. Look for call ups.

If the Jackets are clearing roster spots, I expect something kind of "big" to leave the Jackets in return for quality players. I'm not talking Nash, I'm talking Umberger, Vermette, Voracek, guys like that. Guys with definite value but not franchise pieces.

If it's with Pittsburgh, Goligoski will be the centerpiece. Maybe something based around Vermette for Goligoski. I hope it's something based around Voracek and Goligoski.
You aren't getting Vorecek for Goligoski.

I doubt that Howson is blind and does not see we need not other grinders.
IMo any the "big" move will not be. it is only rumor.

Doesn't make sense for them to not call up anybody today. Who ever comes from Springfield will arrive too late to even make an impact or even really get a decent skate in with the team.

We can't add that much salary. So, we move some guys off the NHL roster and replace them with younger, CHEAPER players. Then we can afford to trade for someone who makes a little more than what we are giving up in the trade.
