Skille, Bolland On The Block

Quote:
It has been widely reported that the Hawks are dangling forwards Dave Bolland and Jack Skille as trade bait, but a deal does not appear to be imminent.

Quote:
Bowman is believed to be in the market for a top-six forward, a two-way depth forward and a veteran defenseman.

It was mentioned in the cap sticky. I found this when I searched for it. It's a few days old, but let the speculation begin.

Skille was out vs. DAL.

Skille on the block is unnecessary. He's not going to fetch what we're supposedly looking for unless you bundle some pretty good assets with him, which would be absolutely absent-minded considering we just stocked up our cupboard with all the trades in the off-season.

Bolland is the same. With his contract, his injury concerns and the fact that we don't have a competent 3rd line center after him, it would make no sense to trade him for anything other than a better 3rd line center/2nd line center.

If I were Bowman, I'd be dangling Stalberg (considering he's got a bit more hype around him than Skille), Vishnevskiy, 2nd rounders and Kopecky.

I second shopping around Vishnevskiy. He's value is only going to go down from here.

Bolland has been utter trash all year and has a bum back

I doubt he has any trade value at all right now.

I agree with shopping these guys.

Together with Bolland, we should get a decent return while their hype is still high.

How soon we forget him shutting down the top lines in every round of the playoffs last year. He has picked up his game the past 5 or so now that he's finally healthy. Not worried a bit about Bolland, especially with our dismal depth at center.

If we traded Ladd for Vish and a 2nd, (awful, awful trade) he's got to hold at least some value at the deadline for an acquisition. Hopefully he'll be gone by then because we really made a mistake in acquiring him. He wont see more than spot duty on the Hawks, if at all.

That was last year. Thus far this season Bolland has been pretty horrible.
Trading Skille would be a mistake, IMO but we'll see what happens.

Why is the Ladd deal awful?

We couldn't afford Ladd and Vishnevskiy although still very raw in talent is serving a secondary role in Rockford as Makarov's mentor and guide here in US.

+ that 2nd is a decent pick

Good value for Ladd considering we couldn't afford him + he didn't breakout until given top minutes in Atlanta

Now if you want to talk about awful deals the Versteeg deal is an absolute failure

At this point the only guys I see as untouchable are the usual suspects along with Bickell and Dowell. The rest I could take or leave.

Vishnevskiy is another smallish offensive dman in a farm system that already had three that were looking pretty good in Leddy, Lalonde, and Connelly. All of them were behind two that were already all-stars, and one of those even won Norris. I appreciate the role he's having in helping Makarov adjust to North America, but I honestly don't have high hopes or expectations for either of them when it comes to the big club.

That 2nd has yet to be seen, but it's only looking to get later and later given how well ATL is doing, due in no small part to their new PPG captain, Andrew Ladd.

We could've afforded Ladd (and were probably trying to keep him) without Bolland, Hjalmarsson, or Niemi. We all bought into the Bolland hype, Niemi we of course lost despite management's best efforts, but Hjalmarsson we could've replaced for way less. Certainly enough for us to have had room for Ladd's current contract.

Was money in the playoffs, but what he brings can be replaced at a third of the cost. For a team as cap screwed as us, it doesn't make sense. Definitely has untapped offensive potential though.

Agreed, but I think Duncan Keith would be great trade bait!

There's no way Keith is going anywhere. You don't sign a 13(is that what it was?) year contract and get traded the same year.
