Flyers interested in Langenbrunner (update: traded to Dallas)

As per Tim P's Twitter:

http://www.csnphilly.com/01/06/11/So...394&feedID=695

Quote:
NEWARK, N.J. -- Is there room for Jamie Langenbrunner on the Flyers, a team that seems to have all the pieces it needs already in place to make a Stanley Cup run?

The answer is, “Yes.”

According to club source, the Flyers have a legitimate interest in the 35-year-old right wing, who will become a free agent this summer.

“But a lot of other clubs are just as interested,” the source said.

Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello asked Langenbrunner to waive his no-trade clause. He was a healthy scratch on Thursday night against the Flyers and was not even at Prudential Center, according to media reports.
I'd be up for that as long as the Flyers didn't give up too much.

Mod Update:

http://www.csnphilly.com/01/07/11/De...784&feedID=695

Quote:
DALLAS -- The Dallas Stars have reaquired winger Jamie Langenbrunner in a trade with the New Jersey Devils.

According to a source, the Flyers had expressed interest in the 35-year-old right wing.

Langenbrunner, who was the Devils' captain, was a healthy scratch for Thursday night's game against Philadelphia amid rumors of the trade. The teams announced it Friday morning.

New Jersey gets a conditional third-round pick in the 2011 draft.

Langs for Shelley and Leighton.

Then fine.

Only way I'm down for this is if it costs nothing or next to nothing.

How about a promise to spot them a game in the next playoff series?

Broad StBull's twitter says the Devils would want a D man or pick. I'd give up a mid round pick or a guy like Bartulis for Langenbrunner.

The Devils wouldn't be moving him for next nothing.

Expect to lose some picks and prospects with little Cap hits... Thing is though that the Flyers would have to make room for him unless they want to go right back in the Cap Red.

I'd move Zherdev and Carcillo somewhere to do it... but not sure how much I'd give the Devils. They wouldn't want those players IMO.

The market has to be large and the price would have to be pretty high as I see it... That said, I'd love to have him here.

I'd give him Bart and a mid-round pick and walk away a happy guy.

Would love to have him. Wouldn't want to give up a ton, but he would be such a good fit in a flyers uniform.

Among the teams rumored to have interest have been St. Louis, San Jose, Dallas and Colorado. Also, the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers are said to have interest, but it remains unclear if Lamoriello would trade Langenbrunner to an Atlantic Division rival—though his contract is up on July 1.

According to a report, the Flyers had offered two draft pick for Langenbrunner, but Lamoriello was said to have a better offer

I'd be in favour of this, but it seems pretty unlikely.

I don't think these teams have traded since Chico Resch was dealt in the mid 80s.

And the only other trade the two teams have made since the Devils moved to New Jersey involved another backup, Sam St. Laurent.

RT @AnthonySan37: Take this for what it's worth but Paul Holmgren has not been in the Flyers suite through the first period and a half.

@capgeek: Contract details for Jamie Langenbrunner #nhl #njdevils #flyers http://capgeek.com/players/display.php?id=775

Interesting that capgeek would tag the flyers and nobody else.

OK, I know Langenbrunner has been the Devils whipping boy this year but I always thought somewhat highly of him. Why are they so desperate to be rid of him?

Well the Flyers did call up Syvret . . . cannot see why unless they were possibly moving Bart.

I assumed it was because he was at the end of his contract and it would be a Cap dump... and he is 35 and the Devils have gotten old fast and should be retooling/rebuilding... But only an assumption.
