That's because the trade was done before the game. This, if it is done (since there is question to begin with), was not done before the game.

Ek says it's done... Dallas... Others also say that.

Makes sense because Jamie wanted to go there if not in the East... If Lou didn't want the Atlantic Divison, Dallas would be his main option.

I'm saying they scratched him... often an indication of a deal done.

If you are saying that the rings mean nothing... I say they might with a player with gas still in his tank... JL is only 35 and would be a good fit in a supporting role on a stacked team needing an oomph.
The point is that cup rings is a retarded reason to trade for someone.

Wow...yea not worth his price being honest. Word is its a conditional pick, that if he signs could turn into a 1st rounder.

Dallas wouldn't shock me. He already played there, and Joe Nieuwendyk who is now their GM was traded with Langenbrunner to the Devils.

Only if that is the only reason... But if the players has the needed tools and is a good fit, having been on a SC team is an added perk.

It often works out well when a youngish team gets a proven winner at the TDL... they add something to the Room; they've been there and know what it takes. This is even more so with players who won multiple rings and with multiple teams.

He seems to have liked it there... Is his wife from Dallas?

I don't feel like arguing. He's not coming here, I already posted why I don't want him, and his price was too high anyways.

No ****ing way I want Langenbrunner for a 1st.

Or simply that a deal is imminent and they don't want an injury to screw everything up.

A very bad point. It's not like we're talking about a slug. These guys are in high demand this time of year. It's not like we're talking about someone who was only hanging around the team.

Agreed. In this case it might have been an all but done deal... I was just pointing to something that could indicate he was becoming a Flyer and not saying that it meant he was.

In any case, it looks like it wasn't to be. Funny how we had no inkling and then got all revved up for it... and now feel like we missed out on something we never thought we'd have in the first place (Did that make any sense? haha)

I think we all knew that we werent trading JVR or a first for him. The big thing im taking out of this is that Homer is still looking to improve. I know a lot of us thought wed stay pat at the deadline. Hoping Vokoun is the guy that we eventually get....

There was still no word from the Devils on Jamie Langenbrunner’s trade destination following tonight’s 4-2 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers.

None of his teammates admitted to knowing anything and head coach Jacques Lemaire was equally tight lipped.

“The only thing I know is before the game Lou (Lamoriello) told me that Jamie won’t be playing,” Lemaire said. “That’s all that I know. Then, I put another guy on the line.”

Lemaire said expected to know more about Langenbrunner’s status “in the morning.

Like KingPin said even if we don't get Langenbrunner at least it shows Homer is still trying to improve the team. Thats a good thing

It's not that people think he'll stand pat, it's more that people think we'll have practically the same team. Small difference there.

I just think that we don't have the kind of assets to trade to outbid anyone for any popular trade bait. Like how we got outbid by Dallas. Our prospect pool sucks, our 2nd is gone, we need most of our NHL roster for a Cup run, and because our prospect pool sucks we really need our 1st. Our best tradeable assets are our 1st and Zherdev. Now, I don't doubt that Homer is willing to trade those two, but we kind of need both. Zherdev is a good secondary scorer, which we need for this "top 9" thing and we just desperately need a 1st round pick.

Plus our only real weakness is in net.
