Rundblad > Lalonde
Philips + 2nd < Seabrook
Regin > Skille
Carkner > Boynton

why should the sens do this? And why should the Hawks do this? no need for Rundblad when you have Keith, Campbell und Hjalmarsson the next 4 years + Leddy and Olsen. If this is for Seabrook, we can do better and we would need to get something like Smid + 1st 2012 from Edmonton back

I just think Runblad will be special, and the other players may help hawks gt to the playoffs.

Not trading Phillips+ for Seabrook let alone letting our best prospect go and one of our only forward prospects.. And Matt Carkner? wtf!! He's one of the most useful players in our system and at zero cost..

Ottawa gets screwed beyond belief.

Seabrook isn't that much better then Phillips if at all... Bad season for Chris this year though

Ottawa gives up too much for assets they don't need and Chicago gives up too much for what they don't need.

The only way this works is removing Lalonde and putting either Beach or Morin.

Brent Seabrook is going RFA... so this package is more than fair for Ottawa IMO.

Trading Regin, Rundblad and that 2nd Round Pick makes little sense for the Senators as they are trying to get younger. That said if you simplify the deal:

Phillips
Regin
2nd Round Pick

for

Seabrook
J.Skille

Might be something Ottawa would do.

Good proposal.

The only thing I'd be wary of is that the Sens themselves might be too high on Rundblad. He's the only piece in this deal that really means something to Ottawa because if Phillips goes off as a rental I don't doubt for a second he comes right back. Regin's a nice player and a player I bet other teams like...but he's buried on our 4th line...for some reason. Carkner could be replaced soon by a combination of Gryba and Cowen (RD and LD).

Ottawa could realistically go with a D in 2011-12 of:
Gonchar - Seabrook
Phillips - Karlsson
Cowen - Boynton

How close is Lalonde to the NHL?

I can't see the Hawks doing it...but I guess it depends on how ready to step up a guy like Hjalmarsson is. Ottawa envisions Rundblad playing top 4 minutes by sometime next year.

Seems like quite a bit to give for Seabrook, I'd say pass on that one as a Sens fan...

Shawn Lalonde is a top 4 D prospect, appears to be having a nice rookie AHL season
Nick Boynton is an NHL player
Skille is a 23-24 year old 3rd line type

The question was why would the Sens do this. You just named a reason why they wouldn't.

Lock Seabrook up long term? That would be more than worth it IMO.

Big time. I've liked Seabrook quite a bit for a while now. I'd like it more if he played the left side but Phillips does (and I assume he resigns in Ottawa) and so does Cowen.

Why does Chicago give up Seabrook though? It's not like they can't resign him.

Seabrook is the most valuable piece in this deal by far. A center piece of an over the hill Philips coming back is a joke. Especially considering he'll probably be a rental for a rebuild year anyways.

If you hate Skille and Boynton that much we don't need to pay other teams to unload them with Seabrook.

I don't think biscuit is going anywhere, and if he were he could net a 1st + top prospect and/or 2nd line/pair NHLer.. Long term this deal gives Chicago a good prospect and thats it. Ottawa gets a top NHL dman for years to come. Terrible asset management.

Def. not from the Sens, Keep the young guys and pick, I wanna see what Rundblad is going to be like, I think he could end up being the best of the 4 young guys on Ottawa's blueline.

If Regin, 2nd, and another year of Carkner is all Chicago gets for Seabrook they'll resign him or free him to a team willing to give up something substantial for him.

Some of the comments from Sens fans make me think Seabrook is very underrated.

Seabrook's a much better catch than Kessel, and look what Kessel got as an RFA, like Seabrook.

I guess it depends how good you think Rundblad and Regin are going to be. Ottawa is very thin on young forwards/forward prospects as it is and if I could trade that package for a Seabrook-calibre forward, I would rather do that.

I would do this if Regin was removed. Although, I guess Skille coming back balances it out since they are equal level young players (I stand corrected if I am wrong).

Deal is awful for Hawks
Hawks get

Good prospect D prospect (We have those already)
Upcoming UFA
4th line C
#6 dman
2nd round pick

No reason to give up Seabrook for that
