New Lines (Smyth-Kopitar-Williams Reunited)

Ponikarovsky-Kopitar-Brown
Smyth-Handzus-Williams
Sturm-Stoll-Simmonds
Clifford/Richardson/Lewis/Westgarth

Also:

Quote:
#LAKings Alexei Ponikarovsky says he'll be back in the line-up tomorrow vs #CBJ (more from him later on www.MayorsManor.com)

#LAKings coach Murray says Willie Mithcell will be back too. Plus, Poni will start on Kopi's line. He also wants Westgarth in for next 2.
www.twitter.com/mayor119

Westgarth in for the next 2 is interesting, does that mean Richardson or Lewis out of the lineup?

Poni comes back and is skating with Kopi and Brown tomorrow night?

No pressure, Poni.

3rd line has speed to burn. They need to swap Handzus and Stoll. Sorry Stoll bashers.

Handzus should be out of the lineup. Give him some rest. Put Lewis or Richardson on the 2nd line for some added speed.

Doughty-Johnson better be split up.

Poni and Mitchell are back? Thank you! No more Johnson-Doughty! And Poni finally gets his chance on the 1st line.

Still kinda sad we have Zeus/Smyth on the 2nd, but Sturm-Stoll-Simmonds (Triple S Line) could be awesome!

Would rather see

Poni-Kopitar-Brown
Smyth-Lewis-Williams
Sturm-Stoll-Simmonds
Clifford/Richardson/Zeus/Westgarth

Anyone can see this isn't working so well. I wonder if this is the organization's way of telling Doughty to sink or swim.

Doughty/Scuds
Johnson/Mitchell
Martinez/Greene

This. Please.

Our team looks 500 times better when Poni/Mitchell are inserted.

This. 'Zus has looked really slow out there for a couple of games. Lewis on the PK was a big upgrade when we finally got a kill last night. I love 'Zus, but resting for a game or two would be a good idea.

More like "...thank God Mitchell's back. Can he stay healthy?"

It's tough duty for two very young D to carry a team - especially when they play the same style - active and offensive minded. Shut down guys are always needed. For the most part, they did very well and showed a lot. They still need a lot more experience in controlling a game.

I tend to agree. However, at some point (I don't know how soon and not this season), a coach is going to want to throw Doughty and Johnson out there together in the 3rd period, like Anaheim used to do with Pronger and Neids, and have them control the game.

Except Pronger and Neids played completely different styles that complimented each other. Johnson and Doughty play the same game and it doesn't work together.

Scuderi-Mitchell should be the shutdown pair late in the 3rd with a 1 goal lead. Johnson-Doughty should never match against the top lines of the NHL.

By the time they joined forces Pronger and Neids could pretty much do it all. One was more physical and one was a better skater, but both guys could defend and score. This is what we need Doughty and Johnson to become.

Doughty = Neids
Johnson = Pronger

Agree with you whole-heartedly about what the defensive pairing should be the rest of the way when the Kings are protecting a lead late in a game this season.

I say stoll is better than Zues on the 2nd line... But it would be nice to have someone else who actually has good offensive instincts to play here.

Lewis is going to make a great team bottom six guy but quite frankly he has no business on the 2nd line. I know people love him for his heart and speed, but just like Simmonds right now does not belong on a scoring line.

They will. Don't forget how long it took for these guys to become who we remember. Neidemeyer was what, 38, 39 when Pronger was signed? Can you imagine Doughty, Johnson playing together for six or seven more years?

Yes, I can. Let's hope it happens. Domination is what it would be.

How dare I post statistics Just the second time, by the way. Seems to me more useful than the hundreds of panic posts all over the board in these darkest of times.
