Contracts issue

What would be better for the Habs. The contracts being honored or not? What would be the major differences.

If by not honor, it means those contracts from last year are up for renewal, then id say not honoring the contracts would be better for us. Breezy is the first that comes to mind. We could let him walk, or sign him to a cheaper deal, thus allowing us to sign other UFA.

who cares... bring back hockey, period. With a 36 millions salary cap, within 2 or 3 years everything is going to be different, either if they do honour contracts or not.

Brisebois is really the only difference.

If last year's contracts are honoured, 17 guys under contract for $26,850,800 (including $3,040,000 for Brisebois and $380,000 for Dagenais). To that, add four young guys (Hossa, Hainsey, Perez, Plekanec, Higgins) and sign Ryder for about $1.2 million and we're just over $31 million. If this happens, we don't have to worry about signing any RFA's (except Ryder) or potentially losing any UFA's (Koivu). I still think Brisebois would renegotiate his deal, maybe $4 million over 2 years instead of $3 million for one.
