Well fellows, just got back for the game tonight in Dallas. Had the good fortune of a business trip and a Ranger road game coinciding (how does that ever happen?) This is the 23rd straight year I have been able to see Ranger road game (and I'm not talking about the masoleum or the pebble)

Haven't read the whole thread but here are some thoughts...

AA was outstanding, so were Staal and Dubinsky but in my eyes the best Ranger on the ice tonight was Brandon Prust. My God, what a good player he has become. He owned the puck when he was on the ice. He was on top of every check and he worked his butt off against Richards line all night long.

Staal has taken the next step. He's becoming a true top tier defenseman.

I was pleased that after Torts' benched McDonagh for a while, he got him back on the ice. I thought he played better after his respite.

Dallas has a lot of skill and their forwards bang pretty hard but their defense can't handle the puck. They kind of remind me of Flyers teams from the Lindros era.

And here's a nugget from Stars radio that willl get everyone salivating. James Neal is apparently available and the Langenbrunner move may be the precurser of something else happening. The Stars need help on defense and Neal was surfaced as a possible trade chip. Hmmmm....

LOL.... Some Ranger fans have a lack of being able to think more than 5 minutes into the future..... you hear them talk about kids like they will never get better.. they dont seem to grasp the concept of kids getting better each year. Imagine how good Staal..Dubi AA ..Stepan and the rest will be in 4 -5 years when they peak...........SICK!

They'd ask for Del Zotto.

I'd consider it.

I'd do Del Zotto + Grachev + 1st for Benn. Easily. He's the next Parise, but better defensively and more physical.

It's so nice when you have decisions to make on who was the most impressive

I just love Prust's game. He never disappoints because he is a guy who just will do anything for the team to win. Completely unselfish.
Lots of other guys like him on the team, and that kind of spirit sure does spread itself around.

So many ready to throw Del Zotto away

I bet last year you wouldn't have traded him. Just be patient.

getting Neal is not throwing him away. I'm happy with MDZ in the line-up but there are players I'd move him for and Neal is one of them

Neal? I thought you were talking about Benn.

Eriksson > Benn > Neal. Neal doesn't give us something we don't already have. Actualy, Dubnsky is just a better version of Neal.

If we traded Del Zotto for Neal I would flip a ****, drive to New York, and kill Sather myself.

i cant believe how quickly ppl turn on our prospects. MDZ is going to be a star in this league. Im not trading him, we dont have anyone who can give us what he can.

Trading Mdz for anyone at this point is nothing short of taking a step in the -nowhere- direction. He is or should develop into a PMD, something we're quite short on in terms of prospects and or/having the personnel to trade for one. Makes zero sense to trade MDZ for Benn or include him any package; we'd either be taking a side step or a step in the wrong direction.

The kid just needs to get his game back and confidence.

Purely hypothetical. I don't want him traded at all, especially when you take into account that he's the only legitimate puck moving defenseman in the entire organization.

That's actually pretty sad. Jesus Christ.

I wouldnt include MDZ in any potential Benn/Neal deals.

now...if were talking Steven Stamkos...Bobby Ryan...that kinda player...you know, proven superstars in the prime of their career, sure, id be open to including MDZ in a trade, youd be a fool not to. but im sorry, im not trading MDZ for anything short of that. Sure, hes had a rough year, but hes got a legitimate star caliber skill set. Passing, physicality, instincts, hands, its all there. really all he needs to do is:
1)get better in his own zone (longest and hardest thing to do)
2)get faster (needs to see barbara underwood!)

lets not forget...the kid isnt even old enough to drink.

This time last MDZ was a God on these boards and now people want to part with him. Patience ... thats whats required.

Id love to get him for like 5.5-6m per.

But facts are -- in NY he won't play with Loui Eriksson and James Neal. As it seems now, Richards will have like a 8m cap hit -- and Ilya Kovalchuk a 6.7m cap hit.

But Richards aint a 8m player. In the Atlantic he would face former 1st overal-picks-centers more then every other game going forward.

On Richards, its just piss-poor-luck that he is putting up so good numbers this season.
