Some guy named Keith Jones, but not the former player turned color commentator. Anthony SanFilippo also remarked that he sounds like Gene Hart.
Thanks. I love Lou. Fantastic guy. Hope it was nothing bad that caused him to miss Saturday.
And, wow. There were a couple of times I wondered if the Flyers fed Gene Hart clips into a computer and had it create new announcements. At times, the similarity was uncanny.
Who was the PA announcer Saturday? It wasn't Lou Nolan. It almost sounded like a relative of Gene Hart (not Lauren).
So I wasn't tripping out!!! I thought the voice sounded pretty different. I noticed on the Flyers' 1st power play the "OOOOOOOOO" in "PECOOOOOOOOO" seemed a might bit shorter than usual, and the timbre of his voice a little more nasally (i.e. Gene Hart-esque). Glad to know my ears still work. Good thing since they're the money makers.
I'm glad we didn't send him down for that exact reason.
If there is a lot of drama (which there may have been) then I agree. But if you mean because of the record, I don't really agree... don't the goalies that play solid on crappy teams tend to be the better ones?
Doesn't Boucher still have the NHL record for longest shutout streak?
However, that was also the year he let in Ovechkin's sliding on his back and tapping the puck toward the net goal that would be embarrassing for a pewee. And I think he went back to the AHL in the summer. Boucher is statistically the streakiest goalie in NHL history. Ride the good streak while it lasts.
The in rink announcer used to do the phantoms, and yes he does sound like gene heart. The phillies stadium announcer has filled in as well a few times.
What are the chances Boucher is a late bloomer? Look at Roloson
I guess it's possible?
Boucher has always had the talent...it's just the ability to keep it together for long stretches/entire seasons that he's always lacked. I guess it's entirely possible that the mental parts of the game have clicked for him.
true, though as i said he seems to be "hotter" longer than usual. He has played well for a pretty long stretch. I still cringe though every time the other team shoots.
I don't know, didn't pay enough attention to him in PHX... other than knowing about the 5 game SHO streak. The problem with Boucher has always seemed to be its either very good, or very bad... thus his problems in holding down a consistent gig in the NHL. As a backup, that isn't the end of the world... because you can spot the guy more when he's feeling it, and not give him a run of games when he's not.
He's definitely playing very well right now, and seeing the puck quite well.
