I don't think Kennedy would be the first call-up even if he didn't have to go through waivers, so we can stop whining about not keeping him up here. Williams and Grachev both deserve it more. I'd almost rather have Newbury too.

I wouldn't mind Jeremy Williams getting called up and playing on the 4th line with Drury and Weise...I think both those guys are right wingers however and I'm not sure if they can play the other side. Grachev would make sense, and if he comes up hopefully we can get him involved on the PP and then use him similar to Grachev...4th line but getting a few shifts a game with Anisimov and Gaborik.

Sucks about Frolov...this probably hurts his trade value even more.

Dupont would not require to clear re-entry waivers but would have to clear waivers to be returned to the AHL which he would. He cleared waivers in the fall.

I'd be surprised if someone used up a claim on Dupont. I'm sure there are many h ere will say he would "definitely" get claimed, though.

He can probably yield SOMETHING, even if it's just a conditional 3rd or 4th rounder. He's not a bad player, and a change of scenery could get his offense going.

thats what we said when he was signed....he was useless most of last season in LA and has been less that useless here.Put him on long term Dl and take the hit off the cap.

Frolov in the playoffs is worth more than we could get for him. A fourth rounder, maybe? He's ours. It was a one year deal, so no real harm. He's an NHL player, just not the goalscorer we thought he'd be.

I think it's a mistake to think that Grachev is going to produce much offense at the NHL level when he hasn't been able to produce it at the AHL level. Grachev 11 points in 35 games. Dupont 19 in 37. Size isn't much of an issue--they're both big. Dupont is more of a checker than Grachev--still Brodie puts up better numbers. Neither is going to get top 6 minutes and neither is likely to produce much offense. Dupont has the better job description for the created opening. He's used to checking assignments. He's more physical. IMO he fits better. Grachev's had a chance. It was questionable at the time whether he deserved the call up. Apparently it pissed Byers off enough that he requested a trade. Grachev went to back to Hartford and he's still not producing. Just because he's toward the top of the prospect list shouldn't mean he gets all the call ups. He needs to earn it.

P. S.--I'm fine with Newbury.

Yup, Frolov out for the year.

Can't say I'm mad or disappointed though.

eh a veteran presence will a good down low game that kinda hurts to lose, but hopefully cally and prospal can quickly jump in within 2 weeks or so..

I wonder if he'll go after someone like Tanguay who's playing decent hockey and is easy on the cap...?

and thus ends the illustrious era of Alexander Frolov. He surely won't be resigned after this year.

Looking on the plus side of things, theres absolutely no way we send MZA back down to Hartford now unless Prospal comes back and goes on a tear, but I don't think anyones really expecting that.

Aw, poor Fro. With the season he's had and with a big injury it doesn't look good for his NHL career in the short term, but he's young and I guess the KHL will still pay him a lot. It's easy to feel sympathy for the guy - he's been an effort guy for us.

Hopefully Newbury/Weise can replace his production or at least come close. It hasn't been like he hasn't been giving us anything, but we did have reason to expect more out of him than "Fedetenko lite."
