Although I certainly don't miss him on the Kings, have to feel bad for the guy. He's having the worst season in his career and then this happens to him. Maybe Russia is looking like a more desirable destination for Frolov next season.
He wasn't having a good season. NYR fans were down on him, as were those who write about the Rags. Puck Central commented: "Look on the bright side NYR fans, if Frolov is injured for some time it's not like it will affect the team's offensive numbers in any way."
Random question: What is the head count on lonely married women in NYC compared to LA?
I live in NYC now. The lonely ones are generally relegated to the suburbs, like CT or NJ. The neglected married women aren't lonely for long in Manhattan... hahaha...
... It's too bad Frolov had to slog through the turd seasons of this franchise, only to be ignored once things got better. Alex was a guy who usually got hot in the second half, and to see him get hurt before he could do that in New York is just a sad thing. Sometimes, there is no justice.
He's still just 28 years old. I wish him all the best.
When I saw this, I felt so bad for him. Ranger fans must be dancing in the streets. They get him off their team, and get the cap hit back since he's going on LTIR. Only thing, they were hoping to trade him at the deadline for something.
The first thing I thought when I saw his season was done, next year he'll be in the KHL or close to league minimum. He has been terrible this season.

Frolov is not going on the LTIR as the Rangers are not at or near the upper limit of the cap.
With Callahan, Prospal, Christensen, and Boogaard already out, the Rangers really needed Frolov to step up, and this is not good news regardless of how many fans thought of Frolov.

My mistake. I saw a bunch of Ranger fans on Twitter talking about Fro and LTIR, so I figured it was true. Thank you for correcting me. In that case, it does suck since you don't get the cap space and you don't have him as an asset to trade at the deadline.
It's pretty sad to see him fall so low. Still one of my favorite players in the NHL. I hope he is able to rehab through it, earn another one year deal this offseason, and rebound his career. Only the best wishes for Frolov.
