Rangers looking to make another deal

Take it for what you will its Eklund. Just found it interesting seeing now that we have a fairly large gap on our d-corp so it would make some sense now that we have more cap space to take on some one like Mcabe. Any other ideas?

How could they not be looking to make another deal? They need a veteran defenseman to replace Rozsival. Hopefully one with a far more reasonable price tag.

I mentioned it in another thread but:

Philips
Pitkanen
Kaberle
Carkner
Allen
Kuba
McCabe

In that order.

I was following him on twitter just now and it said that the Rangers were intrested in Jim Vanderemeer. Again i'm not sure what to believe since i am not in the front office of the rangers

Greg Zanon. Veteran guy who is a shot blocking machine. He fits in perfectly, and likely wouldn't cost much.

He would be a good pick-up too. I forgot about him. Tyutin too.

I've been preaching Pitkanen for the past couple of weeks as a trade option. He'd cost a bit more, but the guy is exactly what we need. Left handed puck moving defenseman that is reliable in his own end that can play more than 20 minutes a game.

As a rental he would be far from the worst option. His point shot on the PP would help also.

More like 25+ minutes. He was first in TOI last year despite missing a few games.

Guess his availability depends in part on how Carolina plays over the next month. If they fall off the pace I could see them deal his expiring contract for some assets. But then again, how much do we want to pay for a potential rental?

Well then we would have to trade Gilroy to make room because when MDZ comes back, I don't want to see him sitting out anymore games. McD can go down and develop some more. He's not ready yet.

I would like either Tyutin or Pitkanen. Maybe Gilroy and a pick? Pitkanen would cost more I'd guess.

Exactly why I'm rooting for Carolina to go on a wicked losing streak so they fall out of the playoff picture

I'd guess he'd cost no more than one of our second rounders and MAYBE another mid-level pick or prospect.

Its hard to say how much these players will go for:
1st tier:
Philips
Hejda - incredibly underrated
Kaberle
Pitkanen

2nd tier:
Bieksa - if they deem it necessary due to the cap
Brewer - if the blues are sellers
Tyutin - if he is being shopped
McCabe
Allen
Kuba

3rd tier:
Rivet
Staios
Vandermeer
White - if Carolina does not want to pay him
Montador

I believe that the tiers represent what pairing they would most likely play on.

Is a physical guy but gets caught out of position and hangs partner out to dry...he did it in PHX. Pass.

Dude, no. We would rather have Vtank, trust me. It would be like Redden or Rozy never left.

I really don't know what I'd do if we took on McCabe, and also at his salary. I'd lose my ****ing hair. All of it.
