IMO, there are drops at after the following picks:
2
3
5

The OP asked if Edmonton would go from 1 to 6. IMO, there is no way they do.
I disagree.

I think the talent level between 1-10...even maybe 1-12 is very close.

Larsson, RNH, Couturier, Murphy and Landeskog are getting a lot of hype, but I wouldn't say they are leaps and bounds better than a handful of other players in the draft, if at all.

Gained
Jay Bouwmeester (never really became elite, left Florida for nothing)
Nathan Horton (also never truly elite, they got Dennis Wideman for him)
Mikael Samuelsson (a nothing player for Florida, wasn't even tendered an offer)
Stefan Meyer (4 games, no points)

Lost
Rick Nash (still with draft team)
Marc-Andre Fleury (still with draft team)
Dan Carcillo (NHL regular)

In the long run they have nothing to show for it but Dennis Wideman. In the short run they watched Nash win the Richard and Fleury win the Cup. That is why you don't trade out of the #1 spot, ever, unless the offer is overwhelming.
After chewing on this thought for a few hours, I want to add just a little bit of nuance to what I said earlier.

Florida got the guys they wanted in those drafts, trading down just because they knew they could. It's not like they agreed to pick lesser players. So they're just a cautionary tale to what could happen if a team ever seriously traded out of the #1 spot.
