Briere hurt Colin Campbell's feelings.

no shelley?

what infuriates me is not one flyers defenseman made it. you could at least give the nod to meszaros, but i guess leading the league in plus-minus is less impressive than the scoring prowess of "defensemen" dustin byfuglien and mike green. disgrace.

Right and hockey is supposed to be non-contact and thus, players who play with an edge and are top ten in scoring are automatically nullified from consideration as an all-star.

Go Marc Staal - what a full, well-rounded season he has had and Elias - leading those last place devils with a purpose and showing Tavares how its done.

Mes is a 3rd pairing d-man.

Pronger would've been selected had he stayed healthy. Bob would've been voted in if he played in December like he did in November.

Briere is puzzling. And Richards should always been in the discussion.

Wow, I am surprised by this. I figured the Flyers would only get one All-Star, but I thought it would be Briere. There were a couple guys who deserved and Giroux was one of them. It's a shame Briere didn't get the nod because IIRC he said he wanted to go.

It will be funny if Giroux declines.

Yep, it is. David Krejci and Jeff Schultz have been the two last +/- leaders. Leading in +/- is a relatively worthless accomplishment.

Mez is a third pairing d-man who isn't putting up points. Pronger is injured and has been for a while now. Timonen, while a great d-man, isn't a big name, plays second fiddle to Pronger when healthy, and hasn't put up points either.

As for other positions, we don't have an All-Star caliber goalie. Bobrovsky has been playing average ever since his hot start and hasn't been playing much since then either and Brian Boucher is Brian Boucher. As for forwards, Richards definitely deserved to be in contention and Briere definitely deserved it more then anyone on our roster, even Giroux.

Isn't this the perfect scenario?

All the vets get to rest for the 2nd half, and the young kid breaking out gets a little taste of the limelight.

This is the ideal situation as far as I'm concerned.

Briere and Giroux going would have been the ideal situation, imo.

Briere deserved it so much after the playoffs and his season thus far... such a heinous slight may be bad for one's confidence, possibly.

File me under the "really doesn't give a **** percentage" of Flyers fans. The allstar game is a joke.

So, they're just in the skills competition. Did they get rid of that ridiculous rookie game?

So they were set on co-coaches when they decided the format? That's weird. Pick one setup or the other in my opinion: both coaches from last year's SCF, or of top current teams (which is somewhat dumb since strength of sched is unbalanced at this point), not some of each.

Not surprised. I'd be more upset about this if the ASG wasn't such a ****ing joke. I mean, Kris Letang AND Mike Green both made the cut...defenseman don't need to play defense, apparently.

Just goes to show, the Flyers truly are just a bunch of overrated hacks. Letang passed Timonen by years ago, and Pronger wishes he were as good as Komisarek. I'd go so far as to say they cost us the Cup last year, along with Briere who has a ways to go before he can call himself a 40-goal scorer like that Phil Kessel.

It's too bad our scrub of a coach is going though.

I, like a lot have posted, am happy that more Flyers get the needed rest. Is it a joke that only Giroux goes? Of course. I don't think I was going to watch the game anyway though. The selection show I was looking forward to though. Since there's just 1 Flyer my enthusiasm for that has lessened too. I hope Giroux gets picked on Lavi's team so Pete can play everyone else to death and Giroux can sit on the bench and rest up as well.

I'm actually surprised they didn't at least ask Bob and Varlamov to be included in the rookies and just have 2 more additional goalies in the game. . . especially with the atrocity of goaltending that is in the game with Fleury and Ward.
