Article on Stepan from NHL.com

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=549077

Quote:
Stepan has played with Rangers leading scorer Brandon Dubinsky on his left side for the last five games. He credits Dubinsky for a lot of his consistency.

"It's exactly what I need to develop," Stepan said. "Dubi is a guy that I look to for advice. When things aren't going the right way, he'll be the first guy to come up to me and talk to me. He's a hard-working guy, strong on the puck and he can score goals."
Good article, always nice to hear what a kid like Stepan has to say about our future leadership in Dubinsky.

Dubinsky for captain; been saying it since '09 season.

This article is yet another fine example of how composed and mature beyond his years Stepan is. Always good to see a player, especially one his age, take responsibility and acknowledge when he's not playing well. Great to hear him talk about Dubinsky that way as well.

It was nice to read that he feels he is well conditioned at this point in the season as well, that is always a scary thing with players coming up from the NCAA.

He had no business being mentioned in captain talk in '09 season... That's for sure, much different player this season.... More professional, more mature, leading by example out on the ice.... Looks like he took Tortorella's off-season advise to heart.... Hasn't gotten ahead of himself in the cockiness/arrogance department this season.

As long as Torts is coach, then Callahan is a shoe-in for Captain once Drury goes away.

I'm not sure, obviously he'd be a candidate, but depending on how long Drury stays, I could see Stepan getting it someday.

But, any of Dubinsky, Callahan, Staal or Stepan would likely be good captains and it's a nice problem to have.
