I love the french language, it's amazing, complicated ... sometimes it's like listening to a harp caught in the summer wind ... other times ... like constipation
But Benoit Brunet today said something that I had to research
I had never heard anyone ever say '' Une Treizaine '' ( he says it right after the Pouliot goal )
I mean douzaine, quanzaine ... but treizane ? WTF ... would he say that, their was about a 9 minute interval ( not counting period interruption ( between the 1st and Second goal ...
But treizaine ?
(XVI e siècle) Trezeine (Randle Cotgrave)
I finally traced it back to 16th century french :
Il y eut une trezene[sic] de maraux qui se disoient estre les nouveaux apostres, et adoroient un galand de leur trouppe, nommé Guillaume Hacquet, comme s’il eust esté Jesus-Christ.
Just saying ... I think Benoit Brunet is a master linguist
Brunet is an old, ex-hockey player. His butchered up french is not surprising. I'm convinced every single quebecer in the NHL would have a big 0 in a dictation.
RDS is the pathetic station that chose to hire him.
Brunet doesn't bother me anymore, mediocrity and stupidity are what I expect from him.
Pierre Houde on the other hand, is really starting to annoy me.

Marc Denis is a Quebecer and is pretty good in dictation, Joel Bouchard also. Don't forget Mathieu Darche, Bruno Gervais and Patrice Bergeron who are well spoken. But no all Quebecers are terrible, because we are a bad People.
If I was a psychologist, I would probably diagnose the Habs board with an OCD related to RDS bashing, French speaking player bashing and Benoît Brunet bashing.
Read carefully board, you'll recognize yourself :
Quote:
Obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder characterized by intrusive thoughts that produce uneasiness, apprehension, fear, or worry, by repetitive behaviors aimed at reducing anxiety, or by a combination of such thoughts (obsessions) and behaviors (compulsions). Symptoms may include repetitive handwashing; extensive hoarding; preoccupation with sexual or aggressive impulses, or with particular religious beliefs; aversion to odd numbers; and nervous habits, such as opening a door and closing it a certain number of times before one enters or leaves a room. These symptoms can be alienating and time-consuming, and often cause severe emotional and financial distress. The acts of those who have OCD may appear paranoid and come across to others as psychotic. However, OCD sufferers generally recognize their thoughts and subsequent actions as irrational, and they may become further distressed by this realization.
Obsessions are:
Recurrent and persistent thoughts, impulses, or images that are intrusive and inappropriate. The thoughts cause severe anxiety or distress.
The thoughts, impulses, or images are not just excessive worries about real-life problems.
The person tries to ignore or suppress the thoughts, impulses, or images, or to neutralize them with some other thought or action.
The person recognizes that the obsessional thoughts, impulses, or images are a product of his or her own mind, and are not based in reality.
Compulsions are:
Repetitive behaviors or mental acts that the person feels they must perform in response to an obsession, or according to rigid rules.
The behaviors or mental acts to prevent or reduce distress or prevent some dreaded event or situation; however, these behaviors or mental acts either are not connected in a realistic way with what they are supposed to neutralize or prevent or are clearly excessive.

seriously, take a chill pill keyboard warrior. Your wangst is showing.
Sorry, I just like funny things that are creative, like the original post. How many more obvious and unfunny catch phrases can you throw into the response to this?

Brunet is my teacher.
I just make fun of him for this "oi oi oi oi", "Ho, ho, ho" and Gros bonhomme.
Oh and every time someone scores, it's a bullet cannon, or however it's spelled.

And i love people who have to puff themselves up like a blowfish on online forums to make up for their own insecurities
It was obviously a stupid joke made for the sake of stupidity, not because it was witty or clever. Get over yourself. If you have anything else to say, do it in PM's and quit derailing the thread.

This description indeed fits you better than it does the board collectively, what with your insistence on turning every thread into a language debate (or pure victimisation of francophones).

you realise that most of us are francophones right? Or are you implying we're self-hating quebecois?

Yes, that's what I said, Quebecers in general are bad people...
Geez man, why are you so sensitive and making yourself feel victimized??...
Men that have given up a good part of their academic educations in order to pursue their dreams to become professional athletes are generally bad at spelling and speak broken french..OH MY GOD!!!..How dare I say such a thing!
Darche might be one of the rare exception as he has a degree.
Btw, well spoken=/=well written.
And I disagree. I have no heard one NHL or Ex player speak properly. Sure, they might be well spoken compared to others, but they're not well spoken. Maybe my standards are just too high.
In any event, it is a moot point. Don't try to make something out of nothing. French is a very, very complicated language, it wasn't a knock on anybody.
