Spaling is really gaining confidence recently. I think he realizes his days in Milwaukee are over, and he's a full time NHL'er now.
Spaling had a bit of a scoring touch in the AHL. It's good to see him start getting that feel at this level .... imagine the faceoff and defensive ability of Smithson with some actual ability in the offensive zone.
Now THAT is how you finish out a hockey game. We didn't let Minnesota hang around for 15 minutes and then hold on for dear life as they came right at us. We went out after them and ran them out of town on a rail. The forecheck cranked up, the energy was good, and the defense shut down the big names for the Wild. There were times where we would slack off and let Minnesota come at us in the first two periods, but when we got that third goal, they went in for the kill and got it. Spaling looked like he hadn't missed a beat out there, and Ward had one of his best games of the year. Rinne kept us ahead with big saves at big times, and even when the defense was stretched, they kept Pekka's workload reasonable.
The real catalyst for all of this, though, seems to be Legwand. Since coming back from injury on New Year's Eve, he has five points in six games. He's really bringing his speed to bear and has clicked with Wilson as well as anyone could have hoped.
The team that came out there in the third period tonight looked like world-beaters. If we can bottle that form and carry it with us, it's going to be a fun run to watch from now till April.
Ladies and gentlemen, it may have been the 5 Jack and coke doubles I got at the Club Level bar, it may have been that I took a new person to the game, or it may have been those giant rice krispy treats, but in the end who cares. The Mojo continues. THAT was fun!
PredsChik: Awesome streak. Keep it up.

Reason: Props to the GDT creator.
This was the first time I can remember where the Preds went for the kill. We got the third goal and we kept coming at them in waves. The Wild announcers were saying they played the Stars the other night and that they had no one forechecking and were amazed that we were bringing 2 guys into their defensive zone to forecheck. That is the way to play. The best part is, as good as the grind line was yesterday, the Euro line were forechecking as hard as anyone. When your top scoring line over the last 2 weeks is forechecking and playing hard defensively, it's hard for other lines not to go out and do the same. This is also what happens when everyone buys into the system and if the system is a good one, it works.
I also think guys are ramping it up some because they know soon Erat will be back and after that Sully will as well. They are all playing for jobs right now. I love the compete factor of this team right now. I want to see us play Chicago like this on Saturday and see what happens. That will be a tell tale sign of how well we are playing. Keep it up boys. Great job.
