According to swedish media (who is quoting russian media) Jonas Andersson is going to the KHL.

According to the article he has signed for Ak Bars Kazan.

If true, it kind of sucks for him. He had a chance here and played decent but for some reason was sent back to Manitoba.

It would be unfortunate to lose him. He was an adequate two-way player at the NHL level, and that's something we may need later on this season.

I liked him both on the Moose and on the Canucks.

Unfortunately, he'll probably never become a full time NHLer, so this makes sense for him career wise.

Mixed feelings on this. I liked what I saw of him in his brief stint here(he could actually carry the puck like it wasn't a live grenade). On the other hand, it also frees up a contract spot if I'm not mistaken, and that could allow us to add someone else.

Add another one to the list of esoterically-referenced former Canucks.

If true...does he come off our 50 man roster limit?

Win Win. Wasn't going to play here so let him move on, plus we lose the contract, right?

Makes sense that it would, similar to Schaefer's situation as he's now in Germany.

Is he on loan? What happened to the KHL - NHL "gentleman's" agreement to honour each others contracts?

I'm guessing like Schaefer he will be placed on unconditional waivers so his contract can be voided.

Well, he was placed on waivers this morning. Any word yet on whether his contract will come off the 50? At this point, that's my only concern. Andersson was a serviceable call-up, but completely replaceable. I don't think he was gonna get another shot for awhile, anyway.

Meh no big loss. I don't think he was in the teams plans anyways.

He just doesn't have the footspeed to stick in the NHL. Need the room for younger players on the Moose.

Wouldn't mind one of these contract spots being used on claiming Greg Mauldin (also waived today). He's a good skater, kills penalites and is physical. He would be a good fit as our 12/13th forward. He's also played C in the past, though not much this year. Think he got lost in the shuffle of Colorado's abundance of bottom line players. Doubt we claim him, but I'd be for it. He's pretty similar to Glass and better than Bolduc or Volpatti.

I thought that Andersson skated reasonably well.

The Winnipeg blurb about this probably sheds the most light on it. Two concussions this season, with one very recently. Also left the AHL the last time after getting hurt and missing the whole 03-04 season because of it. Seems like the small rink just plain isn't a good idea for him.

Useful, although easily replaceable.

Foot speed is not Andersson's weakness.

I liked him on the 4th line, looks to be a good call-up. Couldd be moved around on lines and still be semi-effective in his short time with us. He came back to North America in hopes of securing a job in Nashville, so i guess he really wanted more playing time. Not a contract i minded having, but i do wish Ellington signs in the KHL, SEL, anywhere to get rid of him and his useless contract...
