I think NYR has officially cornered the market on elite talents who only have talent and nothing else

Seriously. In recent years, we've had Lisin, Zherdev, Frolov and now Wolski. I'll remain optimistic, Wolski looked good tonight and I hope he can put it together here.

I'm sure they're heavily scouting Andrei Kostitsyn

Do I really need to say more? FIRST year?

You think being 51/80 points in ONE season is somehow "hugely valuable" and only "1m underpaid".

Have you forgotten about the Ed Jovanovski US Canadians LOVED watching in Vancouver in the early decade? Of course you have. You have no idea how bad Ed Jovanovski is now to what he was 7-8 years ago.

He was a guy who had a great shot, physical presence, solid skating and defensive ability. He was a guy you were afraid of playing against *every* night. He's a guy who had a reputation. He was Ed Jovanovski.

Now you're telling me he's somehow a force like he once waS? TSN even reported that he wanted to stay with vancouver for fair market value or he was going to get his money in areas close to his girflriend.

HE SUCKS NOW.

He is no longer among the conversation of "NHL's top 5 defenseman" argument.

Frankly, I don't care if he's slow, has trouble joining the rush, shouldn't play on the PP, or doesn't shoot enough.

The glaring need for the Coyotes is a guy who helps you more than hurts you in your end, and who can block shots. I'm comfortable with the offense we get from our blueline. I'm disappointed and frustrated (and I know I speak for all Coyotes fans) with our play in the defensive zone.

Bottom line: Does Rozsival make us better on the back-end between now and the end of the 2011-12 while we wait for OEL, Gormley, Summers, Lepisto, and Schlemko to further develop?

1. Usually.

2. Yes.

3. Yes.

4. Yes, definitely.

5. Hit or miss. Very skilled at the first pass but makes bad decision occasionally. Decent at dumping clear.

6. From all indications.

7. I don't know, but probably.

I love Andrei but given his reputation around the league I found that joke to be hilarious.

I wouldn't be surprised if the rags traded us a package of:

1st + McDonaugh for Andrei

Then they go and trade Valentenk + 4th for Sergei LOL

And what exactly are you basing that on? What trades have the Rangers made in recent years that would make you think something like the above would be possible?

This thread isn't about jovo but you havnt watched him play much huh? I see you have stats, but his importance can't be measured in points. Just like Z leaving this year, his stats are not impressive, but there was a huge need for someone to eat up a lot of time on D to give our overworked top 4 a bit of a break. Anyteam in the NHL would love to have Jovo on their team.

McDonaugh, Staal, Sauer and Girardi are untouchable right now. If only they could unload Drury this team would be in a great postion for the off season free agent signings!

It would more than likely be Drury, Weise, Williams for Kostitsyn, Leblanc, Kristo, and Maxwell.

just admit it people Rangers made a great deal here. Plenty of upside. Sather is the man at trades and yes horrific at UFA signings.

This ranger team finally has got it. They are going with youth and because of it they will be a top team in the coming years.

Rozy is a good Dman. Most people on these boards were way to hard on the guy but he is 32 and a 5 mil cap hit. Its a no brainer to take a shot with Wolski who is only 24 and only has a year left on his deal.

Last year everyone would of wanted Wolski given the year he had. I am optimistic he will be a real good 2nd LW behind Dubinsky

Give the young D two years and Staal, Girardi, DelZotto, Sauer, McDonaugh will make this D freaking Awesome........not sure who the 6th would be. Maybe Gilroy but maybe a vet

Coming from a Phoenix fan, you guys got a good deal. The Avalanche fans warned us about him being streaky when we acquired him, but he came in with an offensive tear so we thought nothing of it. After he got comfortable, he seemed to do a little less every game, until finally he went un-noticed. I just hope torts gives him good ice time over there, even though he does not seem like a patient coach in my opinion. With ice time, Wolski may actually produce, but if Torts is anything like Tippett as far as frustration with players, (which is pretty obvious) Wolski may be in the same situation if he doesn't get his act together, sittin' on the bench.

Now as a Coyotes fan, I'm pretty excited about the deal for these reasons:

a) It's going to allow us to bring up one of Mikkel boedker or Brett Maclean...both of which are having excellent seasons down in the AHL and have proved they can stick with the big boys.

B) We finally have a solid top 4, and based off of previous seasons, Rozsival has had some significantly impressive offensive years.

To be honest, on paper I believe the Rangers won this deal. 24 year old winger/center who has the potential to put up 50points+ seasons. But in the hockey market, I believe this is a dead even trade. Phoenix got a safe/reliable player with some potential to fill a much needed void, New York got their project winger who could absolutely flourish with them over time.

Tortorella likes to move lines around if players aren't producing...guys who played on the 1st or 2nd line have found themselves on the 4th line. But he's also good about giving them other chances at the top lines if they keep working hard. It's ultimately about if he'll work with the coaching staff, even if things aren't going well for him. Tortorella will work with players to get their game going again if they're struggling, but the guy has to actually work at it too.

This is a solid deal for the Rangers. Unlike some of the Phoenix fans that have posted in this thread, I don't think we needed another vet dman. Our defensive problems start and end with us not being able to generate consistent offense and pressure in the offensive zone. We play way too much in our own end.

Also, I couldn't disagree more with whoever said any team would love to Jovo. It wasn't that long ago he was voted the most over paid player in the league. If he's not being physical and chipping in points, he's worthless. He makes way too many bonehead plays in his own end and when you look at how much he's paid, it makes you wonder how he ever got that contract.

Wolski was continually buried on the bench and on crap lines. I think Tippett would prefer to play dmen at forward if he could get away with it. Let the guy do his thing and he will score. Play him on actual scoring lines with a decent center and you will be happy with his production.

Jovo was always someone to feed off the passion in the Vancouver market. Left it all on the ice and truly cared about the team, especially when he came back from a lengthy injury and played like an animal down the stretch in 2005-06 where the Canucks missed the playoffs by a couple points.

After he signed with the Coyotes he made a comment that he was a little hurt that Vancouver didn't even tender him an offer after all his years there. A player and person I wish the Canucks had kept.

I imagine he's become a little indifferent due to the uncertainty with ownership and management in Phoenix.

Wellllll the "decent center" thing might be hard, but he is getting to play with Gaborik at the moment! And the Rangers do have some skill at center, it's just inexperienced and probably not top flight skill. Sounds like Stepan will start tonight between Wolski and Gaborik

The good thing is that the Rangers have pretty good talent through their lineup so even if he gets bumped from Gaborik's line, he'll probably be playing with at least one guy who has some skill and isn't just a grinder

Tonight is a perfect example of how the Rangers play defense. An incredible amount of blocked shots, clogging passing lanes, slowing it down and keeping the opposition outside.

A little GWG for Wolski tonight. Not gonna get excited this early in, but he's looked very dangerous in the first two games.

Yeah, definitely a small sample size, but thus far, he's looked anything but lazy, and he's creating offense practically every time he's on the ice.

Hopefully he keeps it up, but only time will tell.
