I'm about 99 percent certain the refs screwed up big time in favor of the Oilers in this one (on a procedural, not judgment, issue).
The penalty to Jacques after the Neal goal should have become a Stars power play. Crawford was correct to go nuts. In the event of a missed goal, and subsequent goals and stats get wiped off the books at the next stoppage except for penalties, which must be served and are recorded as the time of the goal. The rationale for that is to keep players, who might know a goal has been scored but somehow missed, from running around cheapshotting their opponents without consequences.
Oh refs. I keep defending you and you keep screwing up the basics.
You guys are my western conference team this year. I really like the way you guys play. Love watching Morrow, Eriksson, etc. We should have the "Richards alliance". I also have Lehtonen, Eriksson, Ribeiro and Langenbrunner on my fantasy team which helps peak my interest.
However, you guys really need to improve the D. (or maybe having Skrastins and Niskanen back will help.) Wowywitka is awful.
I was about 99.9% sure when they dropped the puck that it should've been a penalty.
The penalty happened AFTER the goal. Should've been one.
A fellow rules-nerd on another team's board agrees. I didn't get to watch this game until tonight, and I was all baffled by why they wiped that off (and it appears Crawford was as well - fun with profane lipreading moments on the broadcast).
Not that another power play would have helped them. They kinda sucked on their other two.
