U-20 Team Evaluation Camp Invite List

Thirteen players from the World Champion 2005 US National Under-18 Team and nine players from the fourth place 2005 US National Under-20 Team are among the group of 43 players invited to the 2005 US National Junior Evaluation Camp in Lake Placid, N.Y., Aug. 5-14 competing to make the US roster for the 2006 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship, Dec. 26, 2005-Jan. 5, 2006 in Vancouver, B.C.

The camp will feature eight international scrimmages with a split squad of the best American players under the age of 20 facing off against Sweden and Finland.

Highlighting the list of invitees are six forwards returning from the 2005 US National Junior Team that finished fourth at the IIHF World Junior Championship last year:
Phil Kessel (Madison, Wis.) who also played on the U-18 team Minnesota (NCAA)
Kevin Porter (Detroit, Mich.) Michigan (NCAA)
Shawn Weller (Glens Falls, N.Y.) Clarkson (NCAA)

Four forwards are from the gold medal-winning 2005 US National Under-18 Team:

Camp opens on Aug. 5, with the first games set for Aug. 9. All practice sessions are open to the public and tickets to the international games are available through the Olympic Regional Development Authority in Lake Placid. USA Hockey National Team Development Program player Peter Mueller is the youngest player invited to the camp.

Northern Michigan University head coach and former National Hockey League assistant Walt Kyle (Waterloo, Iowa) will serve as head coach of the US National Junior Team that will compete in the 2006 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship. It will be Kyle's sixth coaching assignment with USA Hockey and fourth with the US National Junior Team. Kyle will be assisted by John Hynes (Providence, R.I.), who has spent the last two years as a coach with the USA Hockey National Team Development Program in Ann Arbor, Mich. In 2004-05, Hynes served as head coach of the US National Under-17 Team.

Just to add, Adam Pineault played in the QMJHL last year and Chris Bourque will likely be there in 05-06.
