If Seabrook is being shopped then I expect Dallas would be interested. I have no idea what Chicago's needs are though. I expect them to make the playoffs but they aren't exactly a lock. I don't really know why they would shop him either. Yeah they are up against the cap this year but thats mostly because of that $4 million bonus carryover. If they really want to re-sign him they can. If he is demanding a big raise though I could see how they wouldn't think he is worth it. If I was Chicago I'd look at replacing some of that forward depth they lost in the offseason.

Del Zotto/McDonagh
1st (2011) or a forward not named Dubinsky, Callahan, Gaborik, Stepan, Kreider, maybe Anisimov.

Hawks have no cap issues going forward

Our cap situation is comparable to many clubs and better then others

Seabrook already makes 3.5
4.1 mil free's up with cap penalties gone

Troy Brouwer/Tomas Kopekcy/Corey Crawford are only major FA's/RFA's besides Seabrook.

+ Cap is expected to rise is it not?

I speculate that Seabrook is being shopped for a bigger deal to bring another good addition to this team, maybe Alex Semin, Thomas Vokun, Brad Richards, Thomas Kaberle, and others possibly being Shopped this year

Your Thoughts? Your Proposals?
Of course, using Seabrook as part of a bigger deal to bring in Tomas Kaberle. But what will Chicago have to add? Beach and a 2nd will do.

If this is true I hope SFY is making a few calls to Chicago. Would love Seabrook on our blue line.

The Hawks would be all over some of these proposals, especially with Seabrook due for a new contract this summer. If players like a Bogosian or Del Zotto were being offered, I don't see why Chicago wouldn't take either of those deals in a heartbeat. Sure, Bogo and MDZ are struggling... but they're also both only 20, cheap, and have great upsides still. That's way too young to even argue that "they need a change of scenery".

I'm not disputing that Seabrook will command a hefty return, but if Bowman is able to acquire a young, future top unit dman who have the ability to become just as good, if not more valuable, than Seabrook in a couple years (like Bogosian or MDZ), along with other assets (as both posters were suggesting) than all the credit to Bowman, especially if you factor in the cap space he would also save themselves.

From those I know who have very close ties to the Blackhawks front office, this isn't even a thought.

I prefered mine because we don't need that 3rd and Gagner would be too much in that scenario.

That contract is not trade-able, I think. Even though its not, we should give credit where its due; Campbell has been pretty solid for Chicago in the games I've seen him play.

Parise for Seabrook

With Parise not happy with the Devils and the Devils needing a top D-men it seems like a good fit.

If we go by last year

Niedermayer
Pronger
Doughty
Keith
Boyle
Weber

IMO Green because of his offensive ability... at a tournament like the Olympics having him on the PP would be a big help.

If we are talking this year Id say replace Nieds with Letang.

Or at least thats my opinion.

Kurtis Foster, Teddy Peckham, Jason Strudwick, Jim Vandermeer, Sheldon Souray, Jay Bouwmeester, and Cory Sarich, to name a few. There are many Canadian defensemen who are better than Brent Seabrook. Trust me. I'm a Canucks fan. I've seen the Blackhawks enough over the past two years to know that Seabrook isn't anything special other than a second pairing defenseman.
