A 3rd round pick? and it should be a more reliable forward than Wheeler, Colborne's a nice toss in though.

I would love to see the isles in the mix for his services , they certainly have some assets that could interest the Hawks .

1. If Hawks trade him, we are in a position of strenght. We have no need to trade him. We can hear what teams offer and if nothing helps us now AND in the future, we don't trade him.

2. If Hawks trade him, he will go to the Eastern Conf.

3. We would need a Top4 Defender in Return + a 1st Rounder or great Prospect + maybe even more

4. Don't want overpaid Players in Return...

What does Seabrook have as a weakness?\\

Good skater-
Good hitter-
big shot-
good positionally-
plays in every situation at a high level

Im sure he'd be the number one on many teams

Toronto
Vancouver
NYI
NJD
OTT
CBJ
MTL

actually probably the majority

Why would they trade Seabrook ? I'd take him on the Habs though.

Seabrook is not the #1 on the Nucks... He would be top pairing with Edler, but I believe Edler occupies that top dog spot.

Correct.

I remember they mentioned something about the Wild acquiring someone, but they lifted it from Jim Matheson's Hockey World column, where he was suggesting that Minnesota do this to improve.

Why Bowman would be shopping Seabrook is beyond me, even with Olsen and Leddy in the AHL.

Overpayment, IMO.
(Not ridiculous, just overly generous.)

would CBH prefer to move Seabrook at less salary?
I would think you better off trying to deal Crian Campbell and his humongous contract to a cap floor team like Isles....

In any event since you have log jam of D, and multiple high picks for this position a call away, dare I assume you might consider Fs and Gs?

Feel free to haggle or cut to the bottom line:
what REALISTICALLY would you want from NYR?

My proposal is Smid and Cogs for Seabrook. Chi gets less salary and 2 decent players from the Oilers.

1. A Top4 D cause we need a player to replace him
2. Something for the future

I would start and ask for

Staal, Dubinsky and your 2nd for Seabrook and Bolland

(not saying you like this and this will happen, it's an overpayment for NYR, but you ask and Hawks start. No need to trade him, but always good to know what we could get)

no thanks.

Smid is OK, but Cogs is nothing we could use.

I would start and ask for
Smid + 1st (12) + Omark for Seabrook

(not saying you like this and this will happen, it's an overpayment for NYR, but you ask and Hawks start. No need to trade him, but always good to know what we could get)

no...

Why should the Hawks consider this?

Beauch could be had for a 3rd
Rynnay is a Goalie and nothing special. If we want a Goalie we use 6th or 7th Round Picks and hope that one of them turns out to become a NHL Goalie. Or we sign someone in Sweden, Finland or Swiss.

Aulie is a D Prospect... why should we need another? Hawks already have Leddy, Olsen, Lalonde, Vishnevskiy and enough others.

2nd... horray, another Pick we may not need with our deep System. And with this pick, we won't draft a Blue Chipper

I ask you the same I ask the Leafs guy... Why should the Hawks consider this? We should we include Bolland to this? I wouldn't want this for only Seabrook...

Umm, no. He'd be one of 7 #2-3 defenseman, but not #1. Sorry.

And I like Seabrook.

I speculate that Seabrook is being shopped for a bigger deal to bring another good addition to this team, maybe Alex Semin, Thomas Vokun, Brad Richards, Thomas Kaberle, and others possibly being Shopped this year

Your Thoughts? Your Proposals?
Seabrook is not getting dealt

quantity =/= quality

no to Smith, no need
same for Mihalik and Prucell

this leaves Jones and 1st

remember, if we trade him, we downgrade from a Top Pairing Guy to a Top4 defender + Futures.

Only Player you have that could help us is Hedman or maybe Kubina (who has a limited NTC)
I doubt you give us Hedman for Seabrook?

with this package, Hawks can find a Top 4 Defender somewhere else

I think I would like this a bit

nobody offered Ryder + Halak + 2nd so far

Brent Seabrook would be a solid piece to add to our mediocre (I'm being generous with the word mediocre here) blueline. If we can draft Larsson, our blueline would be sick in the next 2 or 3 years if a couple of our prospects can pan out....

Volchenkov-Larsson
Urbom-Seabrook
Merrill-Gelinas

I have no idea what the Hawks would want in return but a move like this would turn this franchise around in a heartbeat.
