Which Top UFA`s will actually make it to Free Agency?
My opinion. Some could still re-sign with their clubs after July 1.
Forwards:
Richards - No, but it's hard to tell given the sale of the Stars.
Semin - Yes, think the Caps need to change things up
Gagne - Yes, having a poor season
Laich - No, they need his style of play
Fleischmann - Yes, because he has no history with the Avs. See what is out there.
Moulson - Yes, who wouldn't want to leave the Isles right if they had the chance?
J. Williams - Yes, not providing the 2nd line scoring the Kings need
Upshall - No, don't think there's a big market for him, so he'll stay with the Coyotes
Leino - Yes, cap issues for the Flyers
Defense
Jovanovski - Yes, Coyotes finances
Lidstrom - Yes, will be a UFA on July 1, but will re-sign with DRW or retire
Markov - Yes, due to his injury. But, if the Habs get a good deal, they will re-up with him.
Kaberle - No, unless he is traded at the deadline, then it becomes a Yes.
McCabe - Yes, see what the market bears
Hamrlik - Yes, Habs need cap room
Hannan - Yes, same as Fleishman
Brewer - Yes, Blues have lots of young Dmen
Pitkanen - Yes, he is going to be a hot commodity and he knows it
Bieksa - Yes, as a Canuck's fan, he doesn't warrant a long term deal given his ups and downs over the last 3 seasons.
Wisniewski - Yes, chance for him to cash in with a good run with the Habs
Ehrhoff - No, I think the Canucks re-sign him
I. White - Yes
Goalies
Bryzgalov - No, Coyotes want him, and I think he wants to stay there
Howard - Yes, if he asks for a tonne before July 1.
Vokoun - Yes, but he has to sign on July 1 to avoid the 35+ rule, since his Bday is July 2.
Giguere - Yes, Leafs need the cap space to do something else
Niemi - Yes, hasn't done it for the Sharks
Anderson - Yes, Avs wait it out and see if they can upgrade (ie. Vokoun)

If Bieksa takes a reasonable deal he'll stay a Canuck. Lots of players have said he's a vital cog in the dressing room so I expect him to stay a Canuck on a reasonable deal around 3.5 if he can keep up his current play with Erhoff signing for around 4.5 and Salo signing for a big discount.

i thought he was looking for something closer to $5.5. I see Bieksa hitting FA

I doubt it. He's said on multiple occasions that he wants to stay a Canuck and I understand wanting to test the market a bit but his best option to win the stanley cup is.... well it's to stay right where he is now.
I imagine him asking for around 5 and Gillis telling him 4 and they meet in the middle for Hamhuis numbers.
Edit: as for BXA, I imagine him taking something reasonable to once again, stay with a cup contender if he is able to keep his level of play to what it is now. Not sure if he is in Gillis' plans for the future but there likely won't be much better in free agency this year and unless Gillis trades for a top 5 pick to draft Larsson or Landeskog we'll be without the epic depth we've had all year so far.
The Canucks want to keep Ehrhoff and Ehrhoff wants to stay a canuck. I'd bet the house that they come to an agreement before free agency.
I feel Bieksa is probably gone. If he has a great playoffs he probably outprices himself and cashes in big like many UFA defenseman have after long playoff runs. If he has another bad playoffs I don't see the canucks bringing him back.

Man what a terrible year for forwards especially if one(or both) of Richards or Semin get signed before July 1
Ehrhoff will re-sign with Canucks. Bieksa is a tough one. He's been arguably nucks best dman this season. He's cap is 3.75 this season and I doubt he would take anything less than that. I am not comfortable paying Bieksa close to 4mil, but he's been so good lately and I guess extension really depends on playoff success.
If Bieksa hits UFA market, how much teams are willing to pay him?
