Mike knows: If you don't like your job you don't demand a trade. You just go in every day and do it really half-assed. THEN you demand a trade.

I like commedore but seriously will he help us in 3 years when we need it? There's no point, we passed on parent who is young and has potential, no way we pick up MC.

3 years from now?

Dude

that is thining toooo far a head on some issues

3 years from now

Petry
Whitney
Plante
Smid
Martin Marincin
Troy Hesketh
Theo Peckham

could be how the d-line looks

and that is not factoring in any high draft pick the oilers could use on stud D-man

the problem is the here and the now and not rushing the kids on the d-line

I hope he clears. It puts Columbus in a hard spot. They are not a cap team, they have to keep a very close eye on their salary and might be willing to give up an asset to get rid of his contract.

They might be big buyers as we approach the deadline but have to deal with a team that can take salary back. This eliminates almost all their options except for us.

Don't want a player who has publicly asked for a trade out of anywhere.

At the beginning of the season sure, he looked somewhat enticing. But after hearing about his trade demand, and his supposed bad influence on the younger players in the dressing room. I say pass. Chorney and Petry could use the time.

What's the rule about trading him come next season? We aren't in a bind cap wise, our D is dropping like flies. Maybe if management knows Whitney is out for the year, they take a shot.
Any way, my point is that if we pick him up on re-entry, can we trade him next season for a draft pick? I'm sure someone will give us something for a guy making less than $2m on his last year, with cup experience.
We got a 3rd for Staios with another year and more money. I think it would be good asset management.

Don't wan't him he would leave as soon as he could anyway. I would rather spend the salary on re-signing key players. Or signing UFA's

This is a team spending $2.5M on Jim Vandermeer. At $1.85M for the next two years, Commodore is more than affordable.

Didn't Commodore say he hated Edmonton to the media at one point?

I have a hard time believing that the Oilers management would look past something like that. Lowe isn't really a turn the other cheek kind of guy.

John Shannon on Hockeycentral Saturday's Sources Say, just said "he might be going to Phoenix". So, I guess we'll see how accurate that is. Anywhere but here as far as I'm concerned.

Even if he's lost a step, at 1.8M he's a bottom pairing guy and better than Vandermeer, Strudwick and probably Foster. I still say we should jump on this if NJ and the Isle don't.

Pick him up and if he performs in the next month or next season, the Oilers could always trade him at one of the deadlines. The salary works for them and potential teams in the future.

Picking him up also enables Tambo to deal one or more Dman at next month's deadline.

I would pick him up and then trade him to a team like the Coyotes for a draft pick next month.

Pick him up and if he doesn't work trade him or put him back on waivers.

You can't just trade a player you claim on waivers. First you have to offer him to all the other teams that put a claim on him for free.

You said we need a high end defender.

I asked if we had any.

you reply? How would you know.

Enough said. Might as well make due with what's out there, and if it's an upgrade take it. No, I'm not one of those who jump at every player at waivers. That's not the point.

The way I see it is: Defence is our weakness. Commodore could help it. Makes sense to me at least.

Being disliked by the competition is a form of flattery in sports. What was said in the media by a player not on our team doesn't really matter. What matters is would he be as passionate playing for us. I liked the player he was, it would be worth it if he could be that player again...price would be right.

I hope the Islanders take him. They're on a roll right now and them beating us in the standings is nothing but good for us.

I don't disagree he is an upgrade over Vandermeer and Strudwick, not Foster but that's ok if you think that. My point though is he going to make a difference on the ice? I don't think he is even though it is an upgrade and this team while not winning isn't playing bad at all and they got a good room so why take a chance on upsetting that?

Let me get this straight: your point is, the team is already spending money on other bad players so they might as well add one more ***** log to the ***** bonfire that is this team?! OK bud. Good one.
