Since McCabe is a UFA at the end of the year it's not the worst idea in the world. The only issue is who do you sit down? We have 7 viable young defensemen if you include Del Zotto. I'd rather package Gilroy or Eminger and a pick to get a more long-term solution.

At this point, was McDonagh tried?

Why not try Valentenko? Apparently he has a booming shot.

I'm on board for babchuck for a low pick. I'd much rather keep our extra second round pick unless it's included in a package for a #1 C.
That looks doubtful however.

McCabe for a 2nd but if they can come up with a option that allows them to keep their 2nd then great. I offer EC and late picks around the league for a UFA and see what they can get. I also won't cry if they move Gilroy

My only concern about McCabe is that he broke his jaw yesterday...

1st bring back del zotto
2nd put in place some sort of powerplay scheme that actually takes advantage of the extra man and open ice, start utilizing the point guys(no matter how hard their shot) with some guys in front of the net screening the goalie.but really torts just needs tl do something that resembles something like he's trying to take advantage of the fact we have an extra man, not do the same **** that doesn't work at even strength.
3rd if 2 doesn't work, trade for a babchuk, or mccabe as suggested. But DONOT trade for a bum like kuba or phillips

He would cost too much. If we were sitting at the top of the Atlantic, then he would be the sort of guy that could put us over the top. But we aren't, so probably no.

Its Burke haha that guy is in need of some assets look at what he's missing just by acquiring Kessel..Kaberle hopefully brings him the moon and a few stars but I agree for a pending UFA he's certainly not going to get much...The only thing that helps Burke with Kaberle is Wizniewski got picked up for a 2nd who also is a UFA. So maybe a 1st rounder and B level prospect is obtainable after all but we'll know in about a month..

I doubt he will get a 1st. Burke couldn't get a 1st for him last year, why would he be able to get one now?

Don't look at the +/-. He was a -3 last night. Go read the quotes by JJ Daigneault who coaches/run the D for the Whale about MDZ's performance in the AHL so far.

Frankly, I think it's a strategy issue more so than a personnel issue. The players are very stagnant, and when the players aren't moving, it's much harder to find shooting or passing lanes.

Also, the dump and chase entry strategy isn't working.

+/- means nothing, watch the games and then say he hasn't been good.

Kaberle would do wonders for this team. Gilroy, Grachev, 2nd/3rd

I just think when a guy like Wizniewski gets a 2nd rounder, and last years deadline I think Leopold got a 2nd rounder, It is fair to say Kaberle is a notch above those two, and a team that believes they're going far into the playoffs with a veteran top 10 puck mover added to their blueline, I think pay that 1st rd draft pick price.

Burke I think last year or the two years now Kaberle was suppose to be moved was hoping for some outrageous offer like a 1st, a top six player and a prospect. I think I even heard somewhere or read that he wanted a similar package to that of what Pronger had gotten in his last trade or two. So as expensive as a 1st rounder is, I think it is definitely still obtainable.

Am I the only one whos quite worried about Del Zotto's progress at this point? Im getting the feeling this is much more than a sophomore slump.

Are you crazy? For a rental player who is a UFA after this year?

2nd or 3rd and THAT'S IT.

Kaberle would be the perfect trade deadline pickup. He can play on 2nd pair and would really help our powerplay. But no way would I give up a 1st for him. So if that is what Burke is looking for I would pass. If Burke would accept a 2nd and mid level prospect that is a deal I would seriously consider.

Babchuk is an interesting cat. He got a bomb of a shot and he loves to shoot. We are desperately missing a big time shot. I'd be interested in him. We really need to improve our powerplay.
