Brassard or Voracek to Toronto

Curious

Columbus is looking a defenceman.
Toronto still wants to bolster up front.

Can something happen here?

i can only see them trading Brassard when they feel Johansen is ready, so i doubt he will be available this season as they are already weak at C.

Voracek, i could be wrong but isnt he not liked by management? I'd say Beauchemin + could get it done but that + has to fill their needs or they wont consider it.

Not for Columbus. I'm thinking something along the lines of Gunnarsson + Blacker

It is definately true that Toronto could always use more offensive options I'm not sure the situation is super dire yet. Versteeg, Kessel, MacArthur, Grabovski, and Kulemin have all taken turns putting points on the boards the issue is more consistancy than man power.

And Colombus's main worry should be reliable goaltending not D-Men and with names such as Anderson and Vokun floating around as potentially available that should be priority #1.

I know they have just about 30 points each, but does anyone know how they are doing this year in general? Improving or not?

Brassard could be traded without getting a top center back. While it wouldn't be an ideal center lineup, the CBJ could slide Vermette up to the top line, Wilson on the 2nd line, Pahlsson on the 3rd and have Dmac centering the fourth.

I'm not saying i endorse it, but it could be done. The defensive upgrade would have to be huge and Scotty H would have to be damn sure that Ry Jo was ready to play with the big boys at the beginning of next season. That last bit is something I wouldn't count on, because if you're wrong, you're looking at a really rough season next year.

Toronto has nothing of interest outside of Kaberle, Schenn, or Phaneuf. Our teams aren't good trading partners, and stop thinking that Beauch is going to get you either, because he won't, and we don't want him. We need an upgrade on defense, your team isn't going to part with schenn or Phaneuf, and Kaberle is a rental that Columbus would say no too, and your group of forwards are more pathetic than ours, so you can't provide us with a goal scorer, there is no trade to be made between these two teams.

I was thinking the same thing, you have to give to get. Beauchemin is hardly an appealing asset for a young player yet to reach their full potential a la Voracek + Brassard.

Brassard wouldn't help this team, I hate to say it, but he's just not anything special.. Bozak would be a better answer for Kessel.

As for Voracek, he may be exactly what we need as our missing top 6 winger with size. I would love to make a trade involving Gunnarsson and Caputi/Blacker for Voracek.

Then why is this thread here asking what it would take? Nice try, this thread operates on the premise that the fans are the acting GM's, correct?

Explain to me this statement after looking at the top 5 offensive players on each team. (i choose 5 because on both teams the next top offensive player is a D)

CBJ
. GP G A Pts
61 R RICK NASH 44 21 18 39
18 L RJ UMBERGER 45 15 15 30
16 C DERICK BRASSARD 45 10 19 29
93 R JAKUB VORACEK 43 9 19 28
50 C ANTOINE VERMETTE 45 9 15 24
Total: 222 64 86 150

TOR
. GP G A Pts
16 L CLARKE MACARTHUR 44 14 23 37
84 C MIKHAIL GRABOVSKI 43 18 17 35
41 L NIKOLAI KULEMIN 44 16 17 33
32 R KRIS VERSTEEG 41 12 19 31
81 R PHIL KESSEL 44 19 12 31
Total: 216 79 88 167

Hmmm looking at the stats, the Leafs top 5 forwards are outscoring CBJ by 15 goals, 2 assits and 17 points in 6 less games. But oh ya this cant be possible! this is HF where the Leafs are terrible at everything! No way can CBJ forwards be more pathetic than the Leafs!

Adding won't do anything. Columbus doesn't want Beauchemin's contract.

The Jackets have already had Beauchemin and let him go. We wouldn't want him back.

Kaberle's a no-go because he doesn't want to play in the Western Conference. That leaves Schenn and Phaneuf.

I love when people know they have no more points to make. That's when they play the "We?" card. Classic.

Some of these proposals are god awful.

Unless the name Kaberle or Schenn are mentioned, Columbus has no interest.

And Kaberle doesnt get you Brassard or Voracek straight up.

If you want schenn we want nash. So lets just leave schenn as an untouchable

Leaf fans like to use Wilson's up-pace system as an excuse as to why they are 22nd in GA/Game. They like to use Wilson's system as an excuse for poor goaltending stats and why their defense looks overrated, overpaid, and lost in their own end.

Then they turn right around and inform everyone their forwards are awesome because "LOOK AT THE STATS!"
