To still be talking about it is like .

Nevertheless, every time I hear about him being with the Rangers, out comes the cat-o-nine-tails and I start flogging that dead horse again.

I know he won't be a top two defenseman but could legitimately become a solid third or fourth on any team. He would have been, potentially, a great replacement for Gill when Montreal doesn't renew his contract or Gill decides that his road is leading somewhere else.

I don't resent having Gomez come here. Nor do I resent the fact that he came with quite a financial 'burden' - Gauthier believed that he was simply the 'best' center available at the time but darn, I usually let be what others do and not impose my opinions, especially in areas that are not of my expertise but, on this one..., man, I wish the trade hadn't included McDonagh.

You don't have to respond to this. I'm just venting to people who know where I come from.
I hated it when we first made the trade, but let's be honest... McDonagh hasn't shown much of anything yet. He was passable in our two games against the Rangers, only because he wasn't really noticeable. Not getting much ice time. His numbers in the AHL are nothing too special (though granted it's his rookie season).

I'm not saying he's a bust, he's still only 21. And it always sucks to lose a promising asset. But nothing says thus far he'll be better than, say, a Yannick Weber.

I just realized we got more for Chipchura than Lapierre (from the same team no less)...what's up with that.

I still don't get why Montreal had to give up on a prospect like him to obtain Gomez at the salary he was making...it makes no sense in my opinion. I have never heard of a team wanting to unload a contract getting back a 1st round draft pick.

So I can only assume there was another team in the hunt or the Habs, one year after drafting him, no longer thought that highly of McDonough.

As much as I'm disappointed with that move, when I step back from my perspective, I agree that this likely what was the case.

But still..........I've not yet been able to let it go - my bad, in the end.

Lapierre asked for a trade which might have hurt his value...although it wasn't as public a demand as, say, Dany Heatley's, but it might have played a role.

Makes you wonder if Burke and the Leafs might have been interested, they were trying to rebuild as well. If it was them then Gainey stole Gomez and Cammy under Burke's nose Luckily Burke returned the favor and grabbed Komisarek.

isn't Grabovski 50th in the league in scoring ?

I don't get why everyone's complaining.. It happens to all teams you lose players and they develop with other teams.

Get over it they're gone

Also 2 points from 3rd in the East if Boston lost their games in hand as well.

On a run and gun offense were he gets the best offensive opportunities.

He'd produce far less with us, as he'd be behind Plekanec and would have to play in a system that makes it harder to produce for individual players but allows to actually win games once in a while.

Guillaume missed the last 37 games and this is what he looks like. Readying for the Playoffs with that beard...looks also like he had a few poutines.

I saw the Latendresse interview in RDS and, seriously, the guy had red pouches under his eyes, which is a sure sign of you know what...
