Rangers Prospect Poll: #14

On the heels of his great WJC performance where he got 6 points in 6 games, Jesper Fasth is now one the map as a prospect with real potential. Let's hope 13 will be a lucky number for him going forward.

The vote to add a new name to the vote was:

1. D Mikhail Pashnin: 10
2. LW Brodie Dupont: 2
3. G Cam Talbot: 2
(4. Inferno got three votes, finishing second actually. He will be posting his video scoring on Roberto Luongo tomorrow.)

Don't forget to write-in who should be added in the next round. Also would be good to include a discussion/argument on why you voted for a particular prospect.

TOP PROSPECTS

1. C Derek Stepan
2. LW Chris Kreider
3. RW Mats Zuccarrello-Aasen
4. D Michael Sauer
5. D Dylan McIlrath
6. D Ryan McDonagh
7. LW Evgeny Grachev
8. RW Christian Thomas
9. LW Carl Hagelin
10. C Ethan Werek

SECOND TIER PROSPECTS

11. D Pavel Valentenko
12. LW Roman Horak
13. RW Jesper Fasth

Jesper Fasth
Right Wing
Born Dec 2 1991
Height 5.11 -- Weight 176 -- Shoots R

Went with Bourque. I really like the kid. He's got real hussle in him and got 41 points in 29 games in juniors. If he played the full 72 game schedule, he'd have over 100 points.

His concussion concerns me, but many players, even those his size, got them and went on to have healthy careers.

His skill, his understanding of the game, his effort makes him a good prospect to have. And it's not as if we are in the top-5 now, we are dealing with #14 and a prospect of his skill and determination deserves to be at least this high.

He definitely deserves this spot. I can see him being as good as Callahan, maybe even better.

Add Brodie Dupont. A big guy with a decent skill level. He'll play in the NHL sooner than later.

We still have a couple of guys, but after #15, there will be a drop. But it's not as if any other team has 30 blue-chippers.

Probably due to his lower ceiling.

Went with Bourque. From what I saw of him, I liked his play at the WJC. If he can overcome his size/injury issues, he could be a very solid player.

Add Dupont.

I think Yogan also has the potential to be on a higher level, but of course his injury set him back. He was ranked pretty high though. After him I'd say there is the real drop off with most off the remaining prospects having a rather low ceiling.

I'll go with Weise over Yogan, not even close. You cannot compare an NHLer to a kid in juniors who was just drafted in the 4th round and missing this season due to injury. Ridiculous to even compare them at this time.

Is Kolarik eligible? I thought he had been around for a while, but this is only this 3rd pro season after college.

That's a rather weak argument by itself. By that logic alone Weise should be above most of the prospects on the list. Yogan was pretty high ranked going into the draft (higher than Thomas for example), has size and has played well before. Of course he's far from a sure thing, but all I was saying is that I think he has the potential to belong to the upper tier of prospects because he has quite some upside.
